5lbs at 20 weeks.

I have gained 5lbs and I'm almost at 20 weeks. I am happy with that but I am wondering is it possible for me to gain like 50lbs in the second half of pregnancy? I'd like to not gain more then 10-15lbs more by the end of 40 weeks for a total of about 20lbs. I think that would be healthy for my height. So far I'm eating what I crave when I crave it but I'm scared of getting out of hand. Maybe I'm getting too comfortable with giving in to cravings and not seeing the scale move up very much and toward the end of this pregnancy it will all come back to haunt me.
When did you all gain most of your weight? Was it all of a sudden? did any body gain more then 20lbs in the second half?
I had a different surgery from you.... but for me I gained the majority of my weight right away (first 4-5 months).
I think I gained so quickly because I added in carbs and stopped the exercise -- and that put 20 lbs on me quickly.
After that it was a struggle to gain weight. In fact, my last trimester I kept losing and re-gaining 10 lbs.
But do try to curb the cravings.... I am having a very hard time giving up the "junk" I ate during pregnancy. (Things like bread, cereal and chips which I didn't eat before pregnancy.)
Good Luck!

I'm 38 weeks and I didn't start really gaining until about 32 or 33 weeks. (I had complained to my midwife that I didn't think I was gaining enough and then POOF!) Since then I've gained about .5lb to 1lb a week which puts my total gained at around 25lbs. Not too bad... I would try to curb the cravings if I were you cuz it's hard after almost a year of doing/eating whatever you want LOL
