Flu Vaccine

He, my PCP, and my OB all say the flu shot yes. The OB said if I was in my first trimester she might have me to wait to the second but since flu season is coming up she said to have it.

I am not currently pregnant. I am more easily infected as I work in a hospital and share common spaces with lots of people (elevators, cafeteria, walking through hospital, etc). So, I will have it.

Swine flu, I have not made up my mind. I think a lot are waiting until the rounds are actually availble. I hear it is a two shot vaccination one and then 30 days later, another.

Let me know what your OB says! Good to see you and know that you are pregnant again!

I know you plan on getting the flu shot, but just a thought to share with others who do NOT plan on getting it....

I've gotten the flu shot every year for the last 4 years, even that time frame when there was a shortage.  This is why.  5 years ago I got the flu, and my husband got it from me.  It was the absolute WORST experience ever.  We could barely move from the couch and when I say our 2 kids got the bare minimum of care, I mean they were fed and changed but nothing more (and  less frequently than we should).  We called friends and family and NO ONE would come help us out because they didn't want to get the flu themselves.  I will NEVER repeat that experience again.  It was beyond anything I've ever experienced.  There's nothing like being helpless like that.

I really never expected to be left out with zero help in an "emergency" situation like that, but that's exactly what happened.

I am not alone, neither are you.

Went to the OB last thursday and she isn't a big fan of having patients like myself (never had the flu nor at any higher risk to get it) get the normal vaccine.  My first was born in Dec 05 and she didn't have me get one and this due in March and said unless I wanted one she was fine with that.  Also, she wants to wait several months after they start giving out the N1h1 vaccine and seeing the results before recommending it for her patients.

Thanks again for posting the question and reply of you guys doctors.
