I am 2 years post op and preg.  The gastric doctor says tpo eat at least 1500 cal a day.  I am avergaeing that somedays a little higher some days a little lower.  I walk about an hour a day.  I am losing weight though and I was a healthy BMI pre-preg.  Should I eat more??  Will it hurt the baby?

first of all congrats!! I would also place a call to your surgeons office and ask to speak or meet with the nutritionist. My doctors both gave me different numbers. Surgeon said 1500-1700 calories and the OB wanted 2000 I tried to be around 1700 every day but it was HARD! ( I had a miscarriage in June and am just trying again)

WIshing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

My Dr never gave me any direct advise besides seeing the dietitian.  She went over what I typically ate, and then gave me suggestions of ways to boost my intake.  So I would say it's probably between 1800 and 2000 cals a day.  Unfortunately, pregnancy makes me eat like a horse...so I never actually counted cals. ( I gave that up when I did RNY, just choice to eat light and health) but I know it had to be close.  I believe my first post WLS baby I gained 15 pounds or so.  I know my appetite varies A LOT during my pregnancy, very hungry early, then it dies down a little, then around 20 weeks it picks back up, then around 30 drops off...so it will probably cycle (so do my cravings, ability tolerate things).  Everyday is a little different for me.  Good luck- and your best is all you can do.  Exercising is great for you both.
