21 week U/S

So I went in for my 21 week U/S today.  got a bit of video and a ton of pics.  She is STILL breech, and before you ask no we don't know it's a she we just call her that.  waiting for the delivery room for that info.  she was fairly quiet all u/s but I got to feel her kick and see it at the same time which was really cool.  At least now I know why I keep feeling all the kicks in my cervix.....ugh.  She was perfect, though because of her position I have to go in in 8 weeks to have them try to image the heart a bit better and to check on nose and lips....oh darn!    The bad news, I gained 5 more pounds making the total at 21 weeks 15 lbs.  OB said WHOA slow down.  Eating too much junk I know so I went and got a load of fruit to help curb those sweet cravings.  Carbs of all kinds are my downfall so I am trying to cut back.  Otherwise doing well.  HR was 148, and (gulp) she is in the 97 percentile for size.  Her daddy is 6'5" so it shouldn't suprise me but she needs to slow down too.  I am measuring right on schedule though.  I will post some pics as soon as her daddy scans them for me.

At the end of the visit the OB suprised me.  We talked about the labs we are supposed to have done for the next visit and she started to hand me the glucose drink and then gave me a blank look when I told her I couldn't do that.  We discussed it before but she has a lot of patients so I will let it go.  She said she will just take a fasting blood sugar, but that won't tell her anything will it?  Also she said they will check my iron with it.  it didn't dawn on me till later we had talked at the last visit about doing a full panel again at that draw.  How often should I be getting a full panel done (like my surgon does for me)?  I might call her before that visit to find out if I will be getting the full panel since they can't do it in the office.  That way I can get to the hospital and have it done a week before that visit.

Overall a good day!  :)

Ask her to have them draw CBC, Ferritin, and Iron Saturation. it shouldn't be a problem to do that. Maybe she could check your B-12 too. Mine always runs low but got really low during pregnancy. I did shots of b-12 at home for a few weeks.

Glad the appt went well.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

That all sounds great!! I just had a fasting blood sugar done also. Will get the results at my next 2 week appointment. So fun!! I start every week after that one. This 2 week thing is hard sometimes. I hope baby keeps growing well for you. My baby girl is about 2-3 weeks ahead right now. I hope she slows down also. I had my last sone 5 weeks early so I know I would rather this one wait a little but he was a huge one. Hope everything keeps going well!!

you should have a full panel of blood tests done every 3 months during your pregnancy.  I just had one done at my first prenatal visit and then again in another 3 months and then again in 3 more months (and then a month later, baby is here!).   I told my doc I can't do the glucose drink because of the RNY and they said they'll just do a fasting blood sugar test or something instead of that test.

Glad to hear your baby and you are doing well!

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!
