I've been on OH for a good while now, but I'm new to this board because I just found out I'm expecting!! I was banded this past January and have lost about 60% of everything I want to lose.
I'm scared to death because of the risks involved. I took a positive test yesterday and am going to see my surgeon in just a couple of hours to have a little unfill (because I'd be more comfortable if I could eat more... I'd rather loosen up my band and be able to eat a little more rather than spend my life planning my next meal). I'm also getting either Zofran or Phentergan A-S-A-P because my lord I've been sick as a dog!! I'm only maybe three weeks from conception and already I'm miserable. That's actually what triggered me.... I was only a week late and my cycles aren't super regular, so being a week late isn't a big deal to me, but when I woke up nauseous four days in a row I just KNEW I was pregnant.
Anyways... back to the risks. Because I have PCOS, I'm at a higher risk for gestational diabetes, hypertension, preeclampsia (sp?), and 50% risk of miscarriage. I'm HOPING that because my PCOS symptoms have been drastically reduced since I've lost so much weight, that maybe my risks associated with having problems because of it are reduced. I had issues with my blood pressure with my first child and I was like 130lbs and perfectly healthy when I got pregnant. My eating habits were HORRIBLE, though, so that may have had a lot to do with it.
I'm going on the DASH diet (the one they give patients with high blood pressure). It's not much different from what I do already... it's just healthy eating and reduced sodium.
So you'll be seeing me around here for the next 9 months or so :-). DH and I are leaving for a 7 day cruise on Sunday.... I guess we won't have to worry about that $700 bar bill this time around! lol

Welcome..hopefully with the success that you have had dropping weight you are at a great place (health wise) to have another child. I have PCOS- and was never given a list of concerns like you have mentioned. I am hoping in the past you have been mis-informed. It's always wise to keep a good handle of your intake when it comes to issue you know you are prone to- for example I was a type 2 diabetic before WLS, so I know I have to be extra careful as the weight creeps up, what I am sticking in my body. Good luck, have a blast on your cruise, and I guess you'll have some extra spending money left. Keep us updated.
Congrats!
I have never heard stuff like that about PCOS. EEK! My gyn never said anything about it when we talked before I started trying. Also, something a different gyn mentioned to me, the S stands for Syndrom. That means it can change. You don't have to always have it. I think mine has been resolved since dropping all this weight. I actually got preggers super easy (first try) and I also only have 1 Tube.
