Miscarriage after heartbeat seen??

Every day I still try and wrap my mind around why I lost my baby at almost 10 weeks. I saw that someone said once you see a heartbeat your chance of miscarriage goes down to like 3%. I guess I just don't understand what went wrong... I try not to blame myself. But I don't understand.
What could happen that the baby dies after seeing it's heart beat?

Hi Jackie,

I said that in my post, and was told that by my midwife.  I do not know what went wrong, but do not blame yourself.  I do not know how old you are, but I am 22 and she MAY have been referring to my age, being I'm very young, with that comment.  But It did sound pretty generalized that once you see the heartbeat the MC rate drops dramatically.  It sucks so bad what you went through and I hope you never have to deal with that again.  Sometimes, unfortunately a person may just be that 2-3%.  I cannot wait to see you BFP post very soon!!!

I am 30 too - well on December 28th! :)

I miscarried after seeing a heartbeat. My doc just said that most likely it was a chromosome problem and that at some point something had not developed correctly. I went on to get pregnant with Isabella 6 months later so keep your hopes up. :)

((((Jackie))))

I understand how you feel... I lost babies at 8 and 11 weeks in the past before I carried one to full term... I seen the heartbeat with the 11 week miscarriage at about 10 weeks I believe then a few days later I was in the ER with bleeding... I don't know why it happens but more than likely the baby just wasn't healthy in some way... That's what I was told by my OB at that time... Also the 1st trimester in general is the most critical time period because everything is developing... That's why when I got pregnant a 3rd time, I didn't say a word to anyone until I was outta the 1st trimester... I was scared to death...

Don't blame yourself hon... It's not your fault it happened... Sometimes things in life are not easily explained... I blamed myself both times and went through all the things that you are feeling now... I've been there and it sucks...

Just hang in there... Keep your vitamin levels up & take that extra folic acid... Just take care of you in general (both physically & emotionally)... I know it's hard on you right now and I pray you get your own little miracle when you & the hubby are both ready...

My RE said that when a heartbeat is seen and then a miscarriage happens that usually means that there was something chromosomally wrong with that particular fetuses development. It just didn't develop correctly and it goes as far as it  can develop and then stops.

Don't blame yourself. It is unfortunately more common that most of us realize. It hurts and it is sad.

Hang in there!

I lost one of my pregnancies at 12 1/2 weeks and I had seen the heartbeat and all. I know how hard it is but it happened for a reason and after that one I almost did not make it to hospital before I bled out and they had to do emergency surgery but 3 months later I was pregnant and everything went well and I have a beautiful 10 year old boy after that experience. It will happen for you. At that time I was 23 years old. Now here I am after more losses and I am 34 years old and almost 35 before due date and things are going well with my baby girl. All I can do is pray every day that everything works out and she is healthy. I hope you get your sticky BFP soon! It can happen and you have so many people behind you!!
