Getting Pregnant....... While Pregnant??????

I was reading through some posts on What to Expect website. There was a a woman who was using her home Doppler and found two heart beats and thought she was having twins. Her Doctor confirmed she's crazy (lol jk) that she is only have one... (even though her previous ultrasound only showed one).

So then she posts that she's heard of women becoming pregnant while pregnant. Like a woman ovulated weeks or months later while she was already pregnant. She would have 1 baby and then like 1-3 months later she'd have another....

Has anyone ever heard of this? Or is this lady a wack job? lol...... I may just be ignorant and never heard of it before lol.

I've heard of a woman having twins (no-relation) sleeping with one male and the next within a close time window and having twins. I know it sounds crazy but I swear I was watching Discovery Health late at night and saw this one (google it)

Ironically I have a neighbor this happened to several yrs ago!  She had twins and one was just under 8 lbs and the other was barely 5 lbs.  While in utero, they thought the smaller baby was getting less nutrition.  After delivery, they called in a specialist who said that both cords were of normal size with blood vessels of normal size and that the smaller baby received good nutrition, but was more or less just delivered early.  They decided the boy was full term at 40 wks and the smaller girl was delivered at around 35-36 wks.   The specialist said that it is possible to ovulate for 1-2 months after conception but that it is HIGHLY RARE.

So I have first hand knowledge of this. My dad is a faternal twin with my aunt.  So what happened was my grandma got pregnant with my dad then ovulated almost 3 months later and got pregnant with my aunt. My aunt was very premature while my dad was full term.

Now this was back in the 1950's so they didnt know that she was even having twins until they came out...

What you were saying about having the second baby a couple months later is not possible. They both come out at the same time... regardless of gestation.

Actually it is possible to have a second baby a couple months later.  My sister had my nephew in October 08 and she had my neice January 09.  The doctor performed a C section on her son and closed her back up until my neice was full term, then they performed another C section in January to take her out.  Both or full term and healthy.

I had a friend who had this happen to her in 1988.  She had both of her babies very premature, at 28 weeks I believe.  But one was quite a bit smaller than the other one, and had a lot more complications than the other one.  After extensive testing, they found that twin B was probably 3-4 weeks behind in gestation.  Now mind you, we were both 17 years old at the time, so understanding it at that time was very difficult for both of us, but now, being more knowledgable and mature, it does make sense, and I believe it can happen.

I agree with the PP though in that you cannot deliver at separate times..both babies are born at the same time, regardless of gestational age.
