Gotta make this quick...so forgive the abruptness.

Friend was due 8/20. Doc wanted to induce on 8/27, but she said she wanted to wait the weekend. Doc said if nothing happened they'd induce on Tuesday (today)...now Doc says he's too busy and "we'll see" at her appt. on Thursday. We'll see??? Isn't 2 weeks past due date pushing it a bit?? It was my understanding that the placenta starts to break down and that's makes it a bad thing???

What are those home remedies (aside from sex and nipple stimulation) for getting labor started???  Doc doesn't seem in any hurry to get baby out.

ETA: Apparently doc can't see her today because she (the doc) has an eye doctor appt. and can't see her tomorrow either because she will be in surgery tomorrow with a (yes, ONE) c-section. So Thursday is a "we'll see how you're doing" appt.

Thanks to those that have replied already!

Well, this isn't really a home remedy, but I had acupuncture done to strat labor.  I was really skeptical, but our lamaze coach  referred us to a chiropractor that specialized in it.  This was my 3rd baby and I didn't want to be induced, so I had the acupuncture done and within a couple hours I was in early labor.  Go figure!

Alot has to do with how sure they are they have the due date right. They consider full term up to 42 weeks, so technically they can go past that. I wouldn't be happy with the "too busy" thing though. Are there other docs in the office that she could see?

As for getting labor started, walking always does it for me. I would go walk the mall a few times, do a mile around the neighborhood, etc.

Yes the placenta starts to break down. She should be getting NST after her due date to make sure the baby isn't stressed. If I were her I would be asking to see a new DR. That is insane!!!! My son was 8 days late...his placenta had crystals on it since it started to break down. And he had meconium too which they say is common in late babies.

When I was pregnant with my son... my (then) husband was away in the Army when I was due...

So the whole Sex thing was out to try to start labor. So I drank castor oil (you can get it in a little bottle in the spices section at grocery store). Your supposed to mix it with scrambled eggs... but I just drank it like a shot.  A few hours later my water broke after a very long time on the toilet (with diarrhea... which is what its suppoed to do)  I drank it at 10:30 pm and my water broke at 3:45am... fun times... lol

The things I have read are sex, castor oil, walking, pedicure, massage

I cannot believe the doctor...UGH...can she see someone else???

Have her buy tickets to a very fun event going on tomorrow night.  That should do the trick!  (Meaning, she will have to miss the concert!)
