Losing weight again after pregnancy

Hi there,

My name is Stacey and I had my Bypass surgery in Feb 2006.  I became prego in Apr '08 and was on bedrest the entire time and gained 50 lbs.  Here I am 8 months later and I am stuck stuck stuck.  Saw my surgeon today and he wants me to go back to square one and a liquid protein diet for 2 weeks.  Start all over.  Anyone had to do this as well?  Looking for support, advice.

I am right there with you! I gained 45lbs and lost 28... Haven't lost any since Jan. Well, I can lose and gain the same pound...but basically I am the same. Oh... I also gained 15lbs before getting pregnant. Mine is horrible food choices and no exercise. I can't seem to get out of my own way to do anyting about it. It looks like I am going to have to get up at 0 dark 30 to exercise because I am so darn tired at night and would honestly just spend it with my family.

I don't see my surgeon because he doesn't do the surgery anymore. I see my PCP and haven't seen him since Jan. I know most people just try to eat healthy and exercise. 2 week liquid diet...OY!  Good luck and keep us posted.

Hugs,
Erika

Splenderella,

My surgeon is one on NJ's best and with any pregnancy you can stretch your stomach so he wants me to get back to square one again..bringing my stomach back to post-surgery size.  I've been exercising..2 weeks now..no diff because I'm still eating more.....will let you know in 2 weeks where I'm at.  i know..liquid again...did it once I can do it again.....

Wil keep the best thoughts going for you. I am in a similar situation. I gained 21 lbs in pregnancy and ended up losing them all right after delivery but I was and still am @ 15-20 lbs away from being where I wanted to be before I got pregnant. I got pregnant at about 8 months out from surgery. The last couple of weeks I have tried the 5 day pouch test and it works to lose a few pounds but I need a little more. Please keep me posted on how you do and keep your chin up.

Ugh, I am thinking about doing a liquid diet too.  I am still breast feeding so I will have to wait until I am finished.  I lost all my pregnancy weight, I am just trying to loose my post wedding, pre baby weight!  Two weeks, huh?  There's no other way to say this...that's going to suck!
I  did the 5 day pouch test once and I had success, but as soon as I started eating again the weight came back. I do like the idea of feeling the same restriction I use to feel after eating.  I haven't decided if I want to do a liquid diet or an Atkins type diet.  I only really need to loose 15 pounds, it seems so difficult to do.  Jeez, I was practically a professional dieter before my surgery, I have lost (and gained) 100s of pound.  Fifteen pounds should be a breeze, yet it is not!
Good luck!
