Weight loss in early pregnancy
Just wondering how many of you dealt with weight loss early on in your pregnancy? If you did, how much did you lose before you began gaining? I'm a bit worried about losing weight, especially when I'm trying so hard to get so many calories in and give the baby the best possible start.

I lost 20 lbs in the first few months... then gained back about 10lbs during the last 3 months... Then lost 25 lbs right after he was born.... It's was definitely a yo-yo situation for me...
I understand your worry... Just make sure your OB knows you have had a WLS... They will more than likely watch the growth of your baby closely by numerous ultrasounds... Make sure you're eating well and 3 times a day plus snacks... It's normal to lose in the beginning in most cases... Also make sure you are taking a good prenatal vitamin the entire pregnancy as this will help too...
That's my .02 cents... I think I did well with Zander because he was healthy - smaller than average but extremely healthy....

150# kept off over 5 years now - Thank you Dr Kim!!!
With Hannah I lost around 10 pounds to start with. I don't think I started gaining any weight until the middle of the second trimester. I eventually gained that 10 pounds back and put on another 20. Hannah was healthy and weighed 6lbs and 11 oz.
I'm 16 weeks pregnant and I'm surprised everytime I step on the scales and see that I've lost more weight. My morning sickness is gone so I thought I would start gaining. I'm down 9.5 pounds right now. I'm sure I'll start gaining soon. As much as I'm eating I have too lol.

I lost 17 in the begining and have been gaining some since about week 18 or 19. My weight though can change about 5 pounds every few days though so I dont like looking anymore. I know its like water and all when its that much cause it goes back and forth but it sure is a shocker. I just got out of the hospital after 2 days of IV fluid and all and gained 13 pounds. I almost cried. But they did put in 9 bags of fluid so I guess I will give it a week or so and then see where I stabilise out at!! Just eat often and the good stuff and baby will take what they need from you. I felt I was failing too when I was losing weight but the butritionist said dont worry it will get better and told me to eat every 2-3 hours and I did stop losing and stayed the same weight for about 8 weeks. It will all be fine momma!! :)

I lost over 25 lbs in the first 4 months. I then gained back about 10 of those lbs.
I asked my doctor and my surgeon and a nut about being sure things were "normal" and how to make sure baby got what needed. They ALL told me the same thing! Take your vitamins! Make sure you get in what YOU need and follow the diet they gave me with the upped protein and fats and what not.
I have about 8 1/2 weeks to go and I am carrying a happy healthy baby boy! I have 2 other children and never had a baby "bump" before and its quite wonderful to have one this time.
Best wishes to all of you!
