So lately I've been getting not morning sickness, but all day sickness/queasiness. Yesterday I moved back to school and getting everything set up in my house was a serious chore. I was constantly exhausted and nauseous but never hungry. I had to force myself to eat some watermelon on the drive to Pennsylvania, then to eat half a Wendy's grilled chicken patty, and then again at diner to eat the other half in a salad. I did not once finish any of these meals cause the lack of hunger. Also if I force myself to eat something that I am either not hungry for or if I'm not hungry at all I end up feeling sick.

So this leads to my question. Clearly that is not enough protein for a day. I have tried going back to shakes but like before I even got pregnant, one whiff of the stuff and I am ready to puke. Its even worse now cause I literally gag trying to even take a sip. I use the cups to not smell them, I've tried making them with milk and water, and I've tried masking the flavor. I've even wasted a ton of money on the rtd ones. What I've come to realize though is its the taste of whey that I cant take, not the flavor and I can detect the whey no mater how cleverly hidden. Has anyone had these problems and/or any solutions?

I didn't have these shakes when I was pregnant and I haven't had my RNY yet, but I do have some experience masking the flavor of Whey Powder.

I have a chocolate meal replacement drink mix that I use.  I've looked on the bariatric choice and other sites and found others I might use when this one is gone.  So, I mix the meal replacement drink, the whey powder (I use the Pure Protein brand, which only costs $17.99).  I use 1% milk (skim isn't cool and 2% I love, but shouldn't drink anymore) and if I'm feeling particularly needy, I mix in low fat vanilla yogurt with it all.  I put it all in a shaker and I shake it like crazy.  The cool thing is that this all together mixes very well, the whey isn't as pronounced and it also keeps a nice consistency for the full 30 minutes.

I hope this helps, sweetie!  I know how being early pregnant feels and it's tough stuff.  To couple that with being the newness of RNY and to be 19...I hope you're being easy on yourself.  I am wishing your morning sickness passes quickly.

Love to you,
