weight gain. during pregnancy post surgery

So I'm about just over 5 weeks. and i've gained like 2-3 lbs already. Not really sure how i'm doing this. my diet has stayed the same. well minus i haven't been having my protein shakes the past couple of days? (culprit????). I've actually bumped up my exercise. Although i've been totally exhausted. So could it maybe be just slowing of metabolism.
I'm sure i'm not the first to freak out over this. I know i'm gonna gain weight. I am pre pared. I just wanna make suer I don't gain too much as i am still overweight. I just wanna stay heatlhy. I'm also highly constipate (sorry tmi) so that might have something to do with it)

by one scale (latter than i normally weigh ) i was 203. the other i was 205.

The worst part is I used to want to "starve" myself when i wasn't happy with my weight. haven't felt like this in 14 months cause i was losing or maintaining. now that i'm gaining i have that feeling i know i can't and won't. but i hate that feeling.

what did your doc recomend for weight gain. and calorie intake? also what kind of exercise routine are you doing. I find it hard to have the energy to exist right now. the first trimester really kicks my A**

Hi! I posted something similar to this a few weeks ago! I am just about 7 weeks pregnant, but when I first found out by 5 weeks I'd put on over 5lb! Everyone reassured it me it was probably jus****er retention ( I swear it was boob alone, they are massive at the moment lol!) and now I'm in week 7 that 5lb has gone so I'm the same weight I ws pre-pregnancy. At the moment I have been suffering terrible morning sickness and haven't been able to keep anything down so I'm thinking my weight may actually drop in the next few weeks (although not the healthiest way).

My NUT said to aim for about 1400 calories a day at this stage, and I was told that I could keep up my normal fitness regime until I was 21 weeks ( not contact sport though). My OB has told me though to stick to gentle encercise at the moment (walking, swimming etc) as I have a history of miscarriage.

I was freaking too when I saw the gain, especially so early, but I assure you it probably is jus****er weight. Our hormones go crazy, and anything is possible! Just stick to a sensible, healthy diet, ask your NUT for advice, and keep active and you'll be fine!

All the best

Vicky

I agree with the poster above. I found out that I was preggo a little over a week ago. While I have not gained any weight (but then again I am only 4 months post-op so thats hard to do), I had been stuck at the same stupid weight of 199.9 in the am and 201 by the evening. Well I realized I was bloated and retaining water. I started drinking a bit more water a day and this morning I was 198.2. I am sooo happy.

Sorry this is late...busy weekend!
I had the same weight gain issue with both my pregnancies.  I was only 4 months post-op and gained 2-3 lbs and wondered what was going on.  Found out I was pregnant.  Then with this one I gained 2-3 lbs and same thing.  I think it's honestly the bloat.  I lost those 2-3 lbs the first trimester but eventually gained them back.

Good luck!

Could be twins - LOL!  I was HUGE by 6 weeks and needed maternity clothes - full wardrobe of them - by 9 weeks!  I popped out like crazy at 6 weeks with these girls.  :-)
