Has anyone got pregnant and wasn't taking their vitamins like they should?

I have to admit that I've been the world's worst on taking my vitamins and this baby is a total suprise. So, my question is...will my taking my vitamin's right from this point on be good enough or should I be worried? I just had gallbladder surgery in July and got pregnant soon after and I'm terrified that this baby is going to have such a rough start. Either way I'll be taking the vitamins...just curious how worried I should be.

Thanks so much for your advice...you guys have been wonderful!

Frankly, your baby will probably be fine.  It sucks the nutrients from you so you may suffer longterm.

Keep a Brita and your vitamins on the side of your bed and take them at night.  You're going to wake up a lot at night anyway (lots of peeing).

Congrats!

Oh, I forgot you do need to take some folic acid now though.

Toward the end of the pregnancy I needed to take a regular vitamin every other day in addition to the daily:

Prenatal
2 iron
B Complex Plus C
Tums / Rolaids for tummy and calcium (some people don't absorb this but I do fine w/ it)
B12 sublingual (every few days)

Good luck!

I wasn't taking my vits like I should.  I'm BAD at it...but my labs were always fine.  Even now I'm taking my vitamins every other day and switching every other day with my kids' gummy bear vitamins.  So far, all looks good and labs are great.

Just start doing it now!  :-)

I'm HORRIBLE at taking my vitamins.  I took my prenatals the 1st trimester, if I can actually call it that since I didn't even know I was pregnant until almost 8 weeks along.  After that, I slowly tapered off and didn't/haven't taken them since.  :(

I am taking my iron supplement now, but that's only because I've become anemic in the last month.

My doctor is ALWAYS giving me a hard time about the vitamins, but my results keep coming back normal(except the iron).

Me too! Good to hear I'm not the only one! I am now taking prenatal vitamins and an iron supplement since I found out last week but I'm curious if I should be taking anything else that would help like calcium and if so what kind of calcium is absorbed the best?

Thanks for sharing : )

Calcium Citrate absorbs the best.  TRY to remember to take those vits.  I also take mine at night- I just find I remember a lot more then- when I try to relax my mind- I think Oooppss I forgot and guilt makes me go and take them.

I will....I've been doing it during the morning but I believe this is the first of many mornings where I don't feel like putting anything in my mouth. Ugghhh, this nauseau sucks :( I'll defenitely be taking them at night...maybe that will be best for my sensitive tummy.

Thanks for the advice!
