Hi all!  My name's Tricia and I am about 16 months out from RNY and I just found out that I'm pregnant with my third child (but my first after WLS)!  I hit goal at 8 months out and then went a little lower, finally stabilizing at about 12 months out to my current weight.  This pregnancy is coming a few months before we were going to start "trying" and I am really concerned about getting in enough food for both the baby and me.

I'm still only able to eat about a 1/2 cup at every meal, so I eat every 2-3 hours to maintain my weight.  Whenever I add protein shakes to the mix, I drop about four pounds and start to look scary skinny.  So I'm just concerned that I won't be able to take in enough protein and calories to ensure a big, healthy baby!  My first son was 10 pounds and my second son was 7 pound a full four weeks early!!

I'm also wondering what your docs/nutritionists have told you about vitamins.  I have my first OB appointment next Wednesday when I'll be about 8 weeks pregnant, so I know I'll be able to ask lots of question then, but I worry that my doc won't have enough experience with post-WLS patients to know what kind of vitamin requirements we have.  I already have to take extra B12 and Iron because I'm low in both of those.

Thanks for any and all advice!
xoxo,
Tricia

Well congrats!!! I eat every 2-3 hours myself. I lost 17 pounds in the begining of pregnancy and now have gotten back to normal. I have not lost more and have gained a little back. Your baby needs as much protein as you can get in so adding at least one back in will help.
My second son was born at 35 weeks and wieghed in at 7   3. So I know they can be big ones. Both my kids are pre-wls.
I take 2 prenatals a day along with 4 calcium. I also take my prevacid daily still and b complex daily. I take a b12 injection once a month.

Again congrats and enjoy!!
