i was hoping from some insight from anyone who may be in my boat. ok.. so I have my lapband in. My husband and I want to start, how do I put this, we want to stop trying NOT to get pregnant. Does that make sense? anyway.. we were wondering about getting pregnant while the lapband is in. Has anyone out there done this? where there any complications? some insight would be appreciated.

Love,
Heather

I have the lap band and I am 7 weeks and 2 days. My surgeon wanted to completely unfill me. I was not happy. My OBGYN said to leave it alone unless I start vomiting and/ or the baby is not growing at a good rate. She only wants me to gain 15 pounds. There are a couple other bandsters on here and I am sure they can answer you question better. Good luck, and I know what you mean about stopping not trying to get pregnant, that is how this miracle came about.

This is my second band pregnancy.   With my daughter I had a very small unfill before I even knew I was pregnant because of reflux.  I kept 2cc's in my 4 cc band.  I lost about 10 pounds to start with.  I gained those 10 back plus almost 20 more.  By the time Hannah was 2 weeks old I weighed less than what I did before getting pregnant.  I had zero complications with this pregnancy. Hannah was very healthy at birth and weighed 6lbs and 11 oz.  I went on the breastfeed her for almost a year.  I have some pregnancy pics on my profile if you want to check them out.

I'm 15 weeks pregnant now and I think I have almost 3 cc's in my band.  I'm down 7 or 8 pounds right now.   So far I haven't had any complications with this pregnancy and hope not to!

Good luck!
Amy

I just realized you had surgery in July.  Are you sure you want to get pregnant this soon?
The lap-band can have a very slow weight loss and without having proper restriction (which I didn't at 1 month out) you may gain a lot of weight during pregnancy and have that much more to lose afterwards.

We stopped trying not to get pregnant and were pregnant in two months!
No complications at all. I gained 20-25 lbs during the pregnancy depending on what day you weighed me.  I had a slight unfill during my morning sickness and was refilled once it cleared up.
By the time I got home from the hospital, I was only 4 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight and a bit over 6 weeks after the birth I'm 9 lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight. You'll do just fine!

I just noticed what Amy noticed. Most docs recommend waiting a year after surgery before trying to get pregnant. I would say you probably don't have to wait that long, people do it much sooner and are fine, but you should maybe have your weight reach a point where you and your doc think pregnancy is a good idea.
