Milk at 27 Weeks?

Hi Ladies--

Beginning around 2 weeks ago, I noticed that my nipples had droplets of milk on them. I wouldn't categorize it as leaking, but if I squeezed a few more drops would come out. Since then, it has consistently been like that. There's really no need to wear nipple pads since there's not that much...but it got me wondering...is this normal?

I totally forgot to mention it to my doctor at last week's check. I've already put it on the list for this week's check-up, but I'd love to hear if others have experienced this at this point as well.

Thanks,

I always start leaking around 20-25 weeks. With my first (pre-op) I would wake up in the morning all wet! My post-op pregnancy's I don't leak as much, I also had much less of a milk supply with Zoe, not sure if it has to do with RNY or not, I guess I will see how this one goes. But to answer your question....yep, totally normal. :)

Well it never happened to me but I guess so. I dont know bout that. I do know mine have been so dry at the tips I have started having to use the lanisoh nipple cream. That seems to help. I guess I better watch out for the leaking though.

I"m 25 weeks and it's happening to me.  I'm pretty sure it's normal.

I have been leaking for about 3 weeks now. Discovered last night that I can actually shoot streams of milk from my nipples. I am only 16W5D!

Yep, I had colostrum a few weeks ago. I got out of the shower and dried off yet noticed that my boobies were still "wet".  I squeezed one and struck gold.  LOL.  Well, liquid gold, that is.

I asked and they said it was not normal but it does happen.  Usually the prolactin doesn't kick in until the placenta comes out after birth but if we have enough hormones going on in us, it can happen.  My OB said not to worry about it.  It only lasted a few days for me (not enough for a pad either) and then was gone.  Too bad I could hardly produce any when I had Kellen, and now it's coming out without a baby to give it to!  OF COURSE!  lol.

Yep totally normal.  It's colostrum and it seems that with every pregnancy of mine it starts earlier.  This time it started at 12 weeks..WTF??  It will be fine and once you deliver your milk will come in normally.

My suggestion is to make sure you have breast pads on hand! I started out about the same time as you, just a little, and now I wake up soaked right though my jammies. I was holding a friends baby the other day and leaked big time, but had the pads in so no mess LOL My doc said it's totally normal, but not to really mess around with them to much, just warm soap and water to clean up, because to much stimulation can cause contractions.

Totally normal.  I think I was in the beginning of the third trimester when I noticed I was leaking.  This time I think I had milk the the baby was conceived.  I thought my milk still hadn't dried up from weaning Hannah.  That wasn't what it was though lol.
