HOW Early????? im 5 months out and i think almost 2 months preg!!!!! So not the plan
just wanting to know if anyone else has been this early me and my hubby have tryed for years before the surgery with PCOS its not ever even come close to happening now im 100 lbs down at 5.5 monts out and on the pill im Prego!!!!! just scarred and worried about the health of the baby any help would be comforting
My surgeon told us two forms of BC. He preferes we us the pill and condoms since the pill can have absorption problems. That being said...
CONGRATS!!! I know of a few people from my surgeon that had an oops it's early pregnancy. As far as I know they did fine and all they had to do was break the rules. Instead of no drinking with meals they had to drink with them. Good luck with this and call your surgeon and find an OB that knows about WLS. Not sure about health care in Canada (only that in most provences it's free and if you do have to pay it's freakin dirt cheap! That knowledge comes from a Canuk friend I have.) so I don't know how much picking and choosing you can with the OB. And just remember even this close out, it's still healthier now than it was pre-op.

Hi! Congratulations on your pregnancy!! I just wanted to let you know that there is no need to be scared. Even though it is not ideal it is very common to get pregnant after GBS. With drastic weight loss comes a surge in fertility and some of us do end up pregnant even when we are using birth control. When I found out I was pregnant at 2 1/2 months post op I went and saw my surgeons office, Nut, and also had my first OB appointment. They currently have me on the following vitamins: B-12, Iron, C, D x2, Calcium x2, Prenatal, & Folic acid. They increased my protein from 60g to 80g and also would like me to get in 32oz of milk. (Which can go towards my required liquids and protein.) Also add plenty of carbs to avoid Ketosis (google it!)and it also helps with morning (all day) sickness. I continue to lose weight but it has finally slowed down. Baby is measuring at 2 days ahead and perfectly healthy. This will not automatically make you high risk either. I am not high risk but now that I am half way my OB is having me come in every 2 weeks and I get a level 2 u/s every 6 weeks. I also have to touch base w/ my Nut every month. You will do great!

yeah losing this weight makes a lot of us very fertile! I got pg the first time we tried after losing 130 pounds! Before this and pre op, it took me 2 yrs to get pg with #1 and then 14 months and 2 rounds of Clomid to get pg with #2! That's why the doctors said to use two forms of bc after you have surgery, just to make sure you don't get pg. I had the IUD in and they said that form is ok to just use and not a backup.
You'll be fine, there's been a lot of women on here that have gotten pg early out after RNY and had healthy babies. Congrats!

ME! And at least one other person EVERY WEEK comes here with the same story. You are not alone. I was 4.5 months post-op when I got pregnant and like you, had tried for years but due to PCOS, no luck...well, just the bad kind.
Keep up on your supplements, and like Ashlie said, add carbs in. You'll want to increase your calorie intake by about 200-300 cals a day once you get to trimester 2.
No worries...of every person here that got pregnant much earlier than suggested, It's been mostly success stories! Only one person I recall had issues staying out of ketosis...everyone else I've talked to has done awesome.
My little whoops was still 10.5 lbs at birth. Not a single complication related to WLS, and was never considered high ris****il my uterus started getting cranky at the fact that I was pregnant which was 27 weeks. But HE was healthy and beautiful! I even gained 50 lbs with the pregnancy and lost 42 within 2 weeks of having him. I probably would have lost more if I'd been able to continue breast feeding!
Good luck and CONGRATS. Don't let anyone scare you about being too early out...most people that would scold you have not been in this situation. Those of us that have been here, well - we are here to support!
