Embarassing question for the PCOSers

Look at the pic of your hubby in your avatar....that's what I would look like if I let mine grow out...I'm not kidding. I shave twice a day because plucking and waxing are too hard on my skin. I can't use hair remover either. I don't know if I can get the treatment while I'm pregnant...I'm gonna ask my OB. We had already planned on having it done. We spend a lot of money on razors so the payment plan will be totally worth it to me. It's the one stupid PCOS thing that didn't go away for me.

DH has known about it for years and I remember having to explain to Alex(when he was ten) that it wasn't normal for women to have stubble.Talk about humiliating.

So, I'm definetly going the laser route...just don't when we are gonna start...hopefully soon.

What an unlucky club to be in ,,,,but I am right there with you.  I am very fair skin, I have sensative skin, and I get these really dark course hairs.  Shaving sucks, I did bleach for a long time, it just is a hassle.  I had signed up for a laser package (face / neck region)- I want to say it was 800.00 but it gives like 5 treatments ( and any follow ups needed).  According to them, because of the way the laser "kills" the hair, fair people are ideal (it makes the dark hair heat up easier).  Anyways- I had one treatment, and within 2 weeks I was amazed at the difference.  I had to stop because of my pregnancy- but they said once baby is delivered I can start again.  I think they space them 8-12 weeks apart.  Oh- and YES it hurts in certain areas on the face.  I was only a little red after it, did it on a friday night.  I was fine on  the weekend ( a little itchy and a little red) nothing horrible.  Good luck.

Oh the HAIR ISSUES!!!  HATE IT!!!  Yep, I get the 5 o'clock shadow, been shaving for years.  When I was 18 I went for electrolosis(sp) OUCH, My face was too sensitive.  The Hair has gotten worse.  I am currently on Metformin, it helps a tad but not enough.  I have started looking into laser, have a friend who is willing to do it for me cheaper than other places and in the privacy of her own home.  BUT, in my 2ww so have to wait to see if I conceived or not.  She told me that she wont do it when I am pregnant because my hormones will be all over the place and the hair may be worse because of that or grow back, so she said to wait until  I am not pregnant, or until after I deliver.  So Here I wait , but I am definately gonna get it done.  Creams just BURN my face than I am left with ugly scabs, that is worse than the shadow to deal with. There are way to many hairs in my case to pluck, although I do but it is like an everyday ordeal as there are so many.  So for now we pluck some and shave the rest.  Hope this helps, and Good Luck.

Liz- I don't have PCOS, but I have some issues with some unwanted hair. I have had tried everything to get rid of it, but have found that electrolysis works the best for me. I found a lady in Maple Glen/Horsham that is awesome- you could go on your lunch break.... I went to her for a couple of treatments and really haven't had to go back. (I do need to go for a "clean-up" sometime soon.)  She is extremely knowledgeable and CLEAN!!! Let me know if you want her info.

I thought that laser removal would be the quickest- but the only draw-back is the laser doesn't "see" red hair, so it was a waste of money, since most of my hairs are red or blonde; also the laser works best on darker hair.

Most of my hairs are red- but I have ones that are blonde or no pigment, and she takes care of them all.

I sent you an email. Let me know how you make out.
Good Luck!

My sisters fertility doctor told her that the body will stop producing so much testosterone once you get lower that the 170 lbs mark , I hope thats true I have 39 lbs to go. I usually wax and then pluck in between. I went to the Laser hair removal and the girl told me she wouldnt take my money as long as I have a hormone imblance it would always come back .
