thank you thank you. I think I am going to get those. But you have to take 3 to get that amount. So I would need to take 4 or 5 a day in order to 1200 and I am sure I get at least another 500-600 a day from food.

Have you personally taken these? Are they big?

1) ALL RNY patients are supposed to take 2 adult multivites per day per that ASMBS.  Centrum is a good choice.

2) Calcium citrate ONLY.  Caltrate is carbonate and useless for us.  And while pregnant, you need 2000mg per day.

3) During pregnancy, we need about 90g of protein minimum.  Shakes are fine.

4) Some seafood is fine -- including tuna in moderate amounts.  Research about mercury in seafood, and look for farm-raised as that is safer.

Thank you for the breakdown Andrea.

The multi I was taking was the liquid Centrum. It contains something like 5.7% of alcohol which she told me to stop taking and switch to a prenatal. My question now is should I take 1 a day or 2? Its the generic rite aid brand.

I do take citrate now. tropical Oasis liquid 1500mg a day. But I am trying to switch to a pill but they are all horse pills. Do you know of any smaller calcium pills (but not the petites, you need to many of them a day)?

Take 2 centrums.  We should be doing that regardless of internal aliens.

Well, you can take the generic citracal -- but you're still gonna need quite a bunch cause the max dosage is 500-600mg at a time.  So to get 2000mg, with 250mg tablets (which are out there, but not as common), you need 8.

My doc also told me to stop taking my Women's One A Day multi and prescribed a prenatal for me.  The one I take is CitraNatal Assure + DHA....all others made me nauseous and constipated.  I love this one because it has Calcium Citrate unlike most others which have Calcium Carbonate.

I also have Calcium Citrate Petites (Wal-Mart), very easy to get down.  I do TRY and get a protein shake down (my taste buds are all over the place in this category) and I do a good job of getting the rest from what I eat.

My B-12 and Iron came back low so now I'm on weekly iron infusions...be sure to have that monitored in your labs as well.

Thank you for your answer. How many prenatals do you have to take a day? And how many petites do you need to take a day?

How low is your iron to need infusions? Mine is in the low 40s but we have been trying to bring it up for over a year now so I am worried. My b-12 was good.

I know you have gotten a lot of great info already but I wanted to add that Iron is very important while pregnant because the most common type of anemia seen in pregnancy is iron-deficiency anemia. During pregnancy, your body uses some of the iron stores you have in your body. If you have iron deficiency anemia, your body doesn't have enough iron left to make red blood cells because the baby has used some of your iron for its own blood cells. Iron is the most important supplement to take. It is required in almost all pregnancies.

I am required to take 1 iron a day along w/ a vitamin C to help absorb it. Here is a list of everything I have to take daily. It might be helpful since I became pregnant at 2 1/2 mo. post op and you are also early post op.

Calcium x2 - be sure to take these at least 2 hrs apart. I also take them 2 hrs from my last glass of milk because we can only absorb 500mg at a time.
Vitamin C
B-12 sublingual
Iron

Folic Acid
Vitamin D x2
Prenatal
80g protein
32oz skim milk
