OT - Nap Times - when do they start??

This week I went back into the office and had to leave Cooper !!  It stank!  The good thing is I will be able to work from home 2-3 days a week going forward, but it's still hard to not hold him all day!

This change in our routine made me realize we really have NO routine.  My hsuband who will be watching Cooper most of the time really needs a routine.  He is not taking well to "stay at home dad".

My question:

At what age do babies start taking only two naps a day insead of sleeping 20 minutes here and there.  (which Cooper does now).

How do we get him into a two-nap-a-day routine?  And how long should those two naps last?

It would help daddy tremendously if he knew every day between 11am-1pm and 3pm-5pm Cooper would sleep.   (or whatever the length should be)

Thank you!!!!!!!

Cindy

He is so cute!  How old is Cooper now?   I went back to work when Hannah was 13 weeks old.  It seems like she had just gotten into the routine of staying awake longer and taking longer naps.   I think she might have been taking three a day to start with.    I didn't really do anything special, I think she settled in to her own routine.

I'm with Amy...I think Kellen was 3 months old.  We started with 3 and worked down to 2, now 1.  Wowsers, you are making me think about all the stuff I'll be going thru again! LOL!

He's too cute!

When Ny was 3 months or so she would take a 2 hour in the morning from 8-10a and then afternoon 12:30-3:30p. Now we are down to just the afternoon one, she pretty much did this schedule herself and it worked for me Up until about 1 year old she took a small cat nap 15-20 minutes in the evening at 6pm everyday, it was like clock work she would fall asleep anywere at that time, it was so funny.

Anna didn't start taking good naps until she was 6 months old.  I blame myself though, I wish I would have started a good nap routine at 4 months instead of 6.  Your little guy might still be too young for good solid naps.  Anna did her little "snack naps" until she was about 4 months old, then she took longer sporadic naps after that.  I had very good luck with The Sleepeasy Solution by Jennifer Waldburger and Jill Spivack.
I work from home 2 days a week (and at the office the other 2) and I really depend on Anna's nap time to get stuff done.
I think a consistent sleep time routine has made a huge difference.  I always do the same thing at night and naps and she knows it's time to relax and fall asleep.  Also, if I don't catch her at the perfect time and she gets over tired she takes too short of a nap, as soon as I see her sleepy cues I get her up to her bedroom and start the routine.
Uh-oh, Anna just got up from her nap!
