So...I have posted something to this effect before but I am looking for anyone who was successful at the Ferber Method or any method that worked for you to get your toddler to sleep in their own bed. Nylah slept in her crib both at night and for naps for 15 months, then all of a sudden would scream at the top of her lungs when I would put her in there for the past month now. I feel terribly bad so made the mistake of bringing her in my bed while DH was away. Now DH sleeps on the couch and tends to baby overnight and I sleep in the bed with Ny. This is not working for us, we would like to sleep together. I welcome any suggestions. How do you handle when they cling to you when you walk in the room to put them in the bed, she makes me feel bad by patting me on the back and saying mama in the sweetest voice ever. I know she is playing me but I to hear her scream when I put her down really pulls my heart strings.

**An update on me as well I DO NOT have PPD this time, and I feel absolutely wonderful!!** Thanks to all who gave advice about when I posted this topic in the past.**

Hi--

So glad to hear you are feeling well this time around. Of course, a better night's sleep will help you feel even better I'm sure.

Although I've yet to parent (see ticker below), I have many, many friends who absolutely swear by Marc Weissblth's "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child." One of those friends already supplied me with the book as a resource for the future.

Best of luck!

I have used the super nanny method and also have the book Healthy Sleep Habits....I have to say, I used the book when the kids were little and had VERY little problems with them as time went on.  For a small time, we used the Super Nanny method of putting them in bed, sitting next to the bed with lights off and telling them that I'll be here until you fall asleep...each night you move closer and closer to the door until you can tell them that you'll be right outside the door.  Then we sat on the stairs...eventually, we were only on the stairs for 30 seconds and he'd forget.  If he called for us, we'd run to the stairs and say "we're right here on the stairs, no worries!" and he'd fall asleep without issues.

Don't know if that all made sense but so far, no sleep issues since and he's 5.5 now.  This was when he was 2.

Good luck!

Laurel just started getting up screaming too.  I wonder if it is a developmental stage?

Last night was pretty brutal because we are also trying to get her off bottles.  Ugh.  I know a ba-ba would have done the trick but we had to do it the hard way.

Also, you should check for an ear infection just in case.

I wish I could help you - I'm still trying  to get Drew to sleep in anything but his bouncer or with me (I'm bad I know!)

Oh Savannah sleeps in her bassinet nicely (knock loud on wood) I am determined not too rock her to sleep, they get too use to that and then that's the only thing that puts them to sleep....past experience so when she's changed, fed and burped and she looks drowsy in the crib she goes. Some babies don't like to lie down maybe thats why Drew prefers the seat or you, no lie Nylah never layed on her back to sleep I know they say no stomach but I didnt have any other options, and she slept great that way.

Bailey did this too - I ended up getting her a *special* night light and glow worm - seemed to do the trick. The night light is a stuffed lady bug that casts starts all over the ceiling. She entertains her self with the glow worm until she falls asleep. I also give her a warm sippy of milk - I know this is bad for her teeth so we make sure that after we read our book and drink milk, we brush our teeth. I think it helps to have a routine.

I am SO GLAD that you don't have PPD because this freaking SUCKS - I am starting to feel better though!

Thanks Dawn, I am going to try this. I think my mom has one of the night light glow worms in her pile of hundreds of toys from the grand kids...I'm going to be a scavenger and dig through the pile!

Thanks for your advice and I am glad that you are feeling better, I know it sucks I had it the first daughter. How do you find time for Bailey during the day, heck even during the evening I feel like I am spending all my time on the baby. It's been 100 degrees so I don't want to take her outside because that's way too hot for the baby.

I think the Super Nanny method sounds really good.  I did something similar with my firstborn but those memory cells of mine are too faulty to remember when I did it.  I just remember sitting on a chair at the doorway.  Even now with my 3rd if my 7 month old has a restless naptime I'll sit on the bed and fold clothes so he can see me (but also see I'm not gonna come get him either.)  They key is to not give in.  Right about the time he learned to sit up he went through a bad restlessness period and I spent 90 minutes "watching" him for almost 3 days in a row.  But I knew he was safe and crying in his crib wasn't harmful so I had the fortitude to stick it through, then he was fine again.

As for Ny, can you get a new bed or even just new sheets/blanket to help play it up, kind of like she's graduating to something better?  I always tell my 4yr old (who is by far the worst sleeper in the house) that he has the most comfortable bed in the house and he better sleep in it before Mommy and Daddy take it over from him.  Thank goodness I never had to eat my words on that one, but I guess he isn't happy with the idea of sleeping in our big bed all by himself. LOL

Good luck.  Those first few days of transition can be really rough, but it is very worth it when you have a good sleeper at the end of it all.

I am not alone, neither are you.
