Fioricet- Headaches!!!

So I don't get morning sickness with pregnancy... however I do get a daily headache that turns debilitating as the day goes on. Tylenol doesn't touch it... and I have a history of migraines. I think the headaches are due to the hormones but at any rate... I can't take it. It's making me just totally blah! I don't do anything... I don't even have the energy to go to the basement and do a load of laundry.

So my doctor prescribed Fioricet for the headaches- but I was reading and it's a category C drug. Has anyone else taken this while pregnant?

Andrea?? I know you have/had terrible headaches both while pregnant and not... what did you take while you were knocked up?

Thanks ladies!

Hi Kyle Beth--

Sorry to hear of your horrid headaches, that sucks. I too had headaches during the first half of my pregnancy, but they weren't severe enough for the Fioricet. I just rested and used Tylenol...which barely helped.

There was a period of time where I did have horrible headaches years ago and the Fioricet was a wonder drug for me. I would often get headaches while grocery shopping, so I'd pop a pill in aisle #3 and by aisle #7 my headache would be gone.

If you do take the Fioricet, I hope it works as well for you as it did for me!

Thanks Paula! I just feel so worthless... I only get about 2-3 hours a day with my son during the week and it's really rough with a headache everyday!

Everytime I threw up from the morning sickness I would give myself a migraine so the doc prescribed Fioricet and it did absolute wonders for me...It was like the miracle drug. I rarely use them unless I just have to. So I think its ok unless it gets abused...just my opinion though.

I feel your pain, literally.

I wish I could offer you drug advice, but I don't have any.   Once cricket is born I will become a walking pharmacy because this migraine crap is for the birds.

Weird- I guess I never associated them with being pregnant..but related / caused by  my really bad allergies (which have multipled in sevarity about 1 millions since being pregnant).  I am lucky mine are just minor compaired to Migraines.   I hope you are able to find relief, and enjoy some of that time you get with our son.

Sorry to hear about the headaches! I was the same way with my first pregnancy. Nothing helped, and I couldn't take most stronger things because of allergies. My doctor actually told me to drink a little caffeine, which I don't normally do for religious reasons. But, the caffeine helped a lot actually. I didn't go overboard with it, but  I did get some in everyday. Apparently caffeine helps with blood vessels in the brain and can help with headaches. If you are already having some caffeine, maybe ask about increasing it or finding a purer form. Just a thought. Good luck.

Fioricet was nothing for me -- I took vicodin and perccocet.  People get the wibbles with those since they are narcotic and thus "evil" but they were what I survived on.

Class C is fine.  Honest.  I was even on D's when I was pregnant with both of the kiddos.
