Fioricet- Headaches!!!
ok so.... I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!!!! Too. So my OB has had me on Fioricet since the beginning of my pregnancy because my headaches have been 24/7 7 days a week. All the Time!!!!!!! :-)
But it helped in my first trimester still taking several a day. But my OB said... OH the headaches will go away by the end of the first trimester, then it was by the 20th week... ect. well.. NOPE!!! It hasnt.
so Within this second trimester she has prescribed 4 different headache meds along with anti-nausea becasue I was sick ALL DAY LONG in my first trimester. So its been Fioricet, then Imitrex (which I did NOT take.. i refused it). Ultram (didnt help whatsoever), and she just gave me Fioricet with codine. But for me not to use that drug anymore than twice a week at the most. Because with this pregnancy, I have these headaches that make me literally cry because it hurts so bad. I havent had to use the codine medicine yet... im trying SO HARD not to take ANYTHING... but I cant even function... and I have to be able to ... for my son. I homeschool my 5 yr old son and cant be sitting here crying all the time because it hurts so bad. He has even come to me and said he wanted to "pray for me"... so he did his little prayer to God to take my pain away.... that was hard for me to realize my son was being affected too. So... Jamison (the baby) is perfect. Heart is prefect, liver, kidneys... all of that...
So dont let the "Class" of meds determine whether you take it or not... like who is going to say... "OK... test this drug on my unborn baby"... to actually get a good look at the side effects. But I will tell you this... everytime I get a new med... I talk to the pharmacist to see... FROM THEM... how bad it is in pregnancy.
So Good luck with your pain and I HOPE your goes away... like mine STILL hasnt.
SORRY SO LONG!!

Ask your OB about taking 400 mg of either Magnisium or Riboflavin. I have horrible migranes that I used to take Topimax for to prevent them. I had to go off when I got preggers then after the mc I elected not to go back on it for a month.I saw my neuologist and he told me to take either after checking with my ob. I was told both are safe to take while preggers but I would still see what they think. I am on 400 mg of Magnisium and have been headache free so far. *beats the crap out of her wooden computer desk* He also told me to take either Tylenol (yeah right. I eat those like candy for pain), the Fioricet (can't take those either since they have caffeine in them and that triggers my blood pressure dropping), or narcotics. Glad I have a stash of leaftover drugs.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

I used Fiorcet for my migraines while pregnant and it worked fine. Fortunately, my migraines were too bad while I was pregnant. But they are completely debilitating now and Fiorcet barely touches it any more. Best of luck. Migraines suck.
