EDIT WITH TRIP TO ER Should I be worried?

Today I am somewhere between 5-6 weeks.  I have my first appt on Tuesday.  I haven't had ANY discolored discharge since I've been pregnant.  Tonight I freaked because I saw a small amount of light brown discharge when I wiped.  I have no cramping and my cervix is still high and closed.  I know logically that some brown discharge may be "normal."  It seems to have stopped, should I be worried?????

Thanks Karen

EDIT:  About one second after I posted this I went to the bathroom again and there was a bright red streak of blood on my toilet paper.  I have no cramping but I went to the ER which is up the road.  They did a BETA and my hCg was 1300. The Dr. said this was normal but they want me to repeat it again on Friday.  They also did a vaginal ultra sound and they "dated" me at only being 4 weeks and 5 days and they could not see a gestational sac.  She said it is way early though.  She told me it was a "threatened" miscarriage.  Since then there has been no more blood, but she said to keep an eye on it and if there is severe cramping or blood flow to come back, but for now every thing looks "OK."  At how many weeks are they able to see a "sac"?  I have my first appt on Tuesday the 25, God willing.  I hope this is just a normal first trimester type of spotting, but I'm so nervous, but I guess time will tell.

Please keep me in your prayers and thanks for all the support

Just remember what everyone says...as long as it's brown, it's old...and even if it's red, it doesn't necessarily mean the end of everything.  I don't know when implantation bleeding occurs, but hopefully that's all it is.

Praying for the best for you.

No, it's normal. When implantation happens a small 1 time spot will happen. If it continues call your MD, but otherwise, I wouldn't worry. Call anyway if you are really nervous. You'll feel better.

Did you have sex or anything that could have bruised your cervix a tad?  I had light brown discharge with this pregnancy.  Everyone told me (outside of OH) that it meant twin girls.  LOL.  Hmmmm....it did come true!
Did you have implantation bleeding at all either?  My OB said that it was possible that it was just residual coming out from that.  But then we found out it was twins and he said that it could just be a sign that those placentas were digging in nice and deep.  He checked my cervix and like yours, high and closed.  He was happy with that.

I has spotting, both brown and pink, off and on throughout my 3rd pregnancy.  Absolutely normal...its normal for you to be nervous too...but its definitely no guarantee that something is wrong.

I am not alone, neither are you.

Can I ask a ? to clarify?  Did you HAVE an apt. yesterday and they checked you? or do you have an apt. coming up?  Because if they did a pap and internal exam...thats your spotting...otherwise, I would think maybe implantation bleed that was lodged and came out...You will be in my prayers, but if that was the end of it and nothing else has happened I woul drink lots of water and not worry!! :)

I had brown and even pink spotting a couple of times during Isabella's pregnancy. I freaked everytime too (especially after experiencing a miscarriage) but like Holly said as long as it isn't red you should be ok :)

Hang in there Momma!

I had a similar trip to the ER this past weekend.  I cried the whole morning and was positive I was losing the baby.  It is so scary to think that you might be losing a little one that you loved from minute you saw the plus sign.  I will be praying that your little bean will be okay :)

I hope everything turns out ok.

I do want you to know that when I was about 10 weeks, I had unexplained bleeding.  They sent me home, put me on bed rest for the weekend, and told me I had a threatened miscarriage.  I'm still pregnant.

Also, I had my first u/s around 6 weeks and they were able to see the beginnings of a little itty bitty.
