Need some advice/help

I can't answer re the jitteryness/needing to eat at night issues...but had a question re the toes....I'm not pregnant...and I get the possessed toe issues.  My toes curl up so I force them down...then they curl down so I force them up.  The only thing I have found to stop it is to walk around for 10-15 minutes...and it usually does it at the end of the day before bed...but even occasionally after I go to bed.  I've always just chalked it up to wearing shoes w/o good padding in the balls of the feet and figured I was a freak for having possessed toes.

What's the soap thing you heard about?  If I eat a bar of soap will it stop hurting my toes?!

Sorry to hear you have the "possessed" toes too!  The soap thing is when you put a bar of soap at the end of your bed (under the covers) and supposedly that is suppose to help with charlie horses.  Not sure if it works, but willing to give it a whirl!

LOL...I can only imagine my DH's reponse to finding a bar of soap floating around in the bed.  He'd bring the little men w/white jackets, talking in a soothing, calm voice.

I'm only 8 weeks and 5 days and I have to keep snacks by my bed at night. I wake up 3-4 times a night to eat. With Niko, around the time you are now, I was drinking weight gainer shakes before bed and that helped tremendously. DH said last night that it's time to break out the shakes because I'm only getting 900 calories max per day right now. I think he's right.

I agree with the magnesium too. Also, if you are sleeping on your back you could be putting pressure on your veina cava(the main artery that provides oxygen to your womb). This causes charlie horses---bad ones. I had them with Alex so bad that I felt like I couldn't move...scared the crap out of me.

Thank you so much for your response!  I do sleep on my back!!!  I've been trying yo sleep on my left side but somehow always manage to end up on my back.  I just started sleeping with a body pillow so maybe that will help too.  Thanks for your great advice/knowledge.  Learning something new everyday!

Hello everyone,

I don't know about the after pregnancy part, but I have cramps and charlie horses all the time.  I wake up in the middle of the night and I either can't move or have to get up and try to stretch it out which causes me so much pain DH wakes up and wants to take me to the ER.  You guys think it could be the same thing?  I usually eat a banana or drink OJ sometimes that helps and sometimes not.  I always thought it was potassium deficiency not magnesium.  You learn something new every day.

This sounds like a blood sugar drop to me and I know I've read many times on this board of ladies that had a form of hypoglycemia during their pregnancies.  Not sure if it was malabsorption or just hormone related....ladies, anyone chime in here???  Is my advanced maternal age, pre-menopausal brain working or no??

I agree that it sounds like a low blood sugar issue. Can you try eating the same type snack right before bed and see if that helps?? Carbs and protein together. Milk and a slice of toast, crackers with pb... I definitely think it warrants a call to your doc. You don't want to mess with low sugars. Good luck. Shari

i'm gonna post from my expeirences on this, i have low blood sugar attacks as i call them all the time, almost daily.  i will start by getting  a bit dizzy and then start shaking and within 30 seconds i know i'm in trouble cause i will actually start sweating.... i usually have to have my hubby or son (15) make me a quick PB & J half of sandwich and drink a touch of oj or apple juice with it and sit and wait aout 10 minutes before even trying to get up from where i'm at cause i'll pass out.  Unfortuantly  this is NOT just a pregnancy thing with me although it has gotten worse with this pregnancy then my last. I also suffer from leg cramps but i wear socks to bed and it seems to help.... dont ask me why.
