First Bout with Restless Leg Syndrome
Has anyone has RLS during their pregnancy?
I'm 28 weeks and just had my first experiences with it in the wee hours of the morning. Truth be told, I've been feeling a stiffness in the back of my legs and calves for about a week now (during the day) and have been stretching them more during the course of the day to help them feel less tight. Last night was different though. I woke up at 3:30 to pee and have a snack. Then, it took a while to fall back asleep. I'd say around 4:20 I woke up again and felt like I had to get up because of a weird sensation in my legs. On auto-pilot I made my way to the bathroom assuming I had to pee again....but really my legs woke me up and walking on them made them feel better.
Based on some quick research I just did, it suggested that too much caffeine and/or carbs late in the day MAY contribute to RLS in pregnancy. Admittedly, I did have more carbs and caffeine than usual yesterday...so, I'll be very mindful of my intake today and see if it helps.
Anyone else have this and if so, do you have any suggestions for alleviating it?

Magnesium.
For me taking 400mg of magnesium citrate before bed made my RLS go away -- this was true before pregnancy and during.
During pregnancy my RLS got way worse..... so I'd take magnesium citrate (bought at a vitamin store). I used to call it "twitchy legs" because my leg just wanted to keep moving - my hip just wasn't comfortable in any position and only being up/walking helped.
Just don't take too much magnesium citrate or you'll regret it. (It acts as a stool softener in large doses).
Hope you find relief!
