Well, I am 11weeks 4 days prego with baby # 2.  This is my first baby post op. I am 15months post op with RNY.
I am so scared.
My question is do you see your ob just the same as a normal pregnancy?  Or more often?

ps my son just turned three today and has been in head start for two weeks so i am going crazy.

From what I am told and seen having the surgery does not put you in a higher risk area. Usually it would be other things that did that. I see a high risk now but that due to other medical issues. They told me the rny made a lot of good differences in health though. So some of the issues I had in my previous pregnancies are gone for this one for sure. No high blood pressure and all which is very nice.
Just double everything and add some carbs back in. Thats about the only difference I have had in this pregnancy so far!!

Congrats and welcome to the board!!

Thanks, for the advise.  When i called they told me they would not see me until 12weeks.  Do you have to watch your labs?

My OB doesn't consider me high risk but she just asked me to start coming in every 2-3 weeks and have an ultrasound every 5-6 weeks just to stay on top of things.

I'm 19 weeks and I go to the OB as if I never even had surgery.  "Normal" appts. just like all of the others that did NOT have WLS.  Congrats and good luck!

I see a normal OB on a normal schedule just like the average pregnant woman.  Infact, this morning was my 37 week appt and my OB said I "have a perfectly average pregnancy".
The only difference would be the glucose testing for the gestational diabetes.

Congrats!!  Don't be scared.  We are so much healthier now that we've lost the weight!  My OB told me I was healthier than the majority of her patients.  I was never considered high ris****il I went into preterm labor with my last pregnancy (no real reason why, but my uterus is just cranky).  And I got pregnant 4 months post op.  I gained plenty and had a heftly 10.5 lb baby boy.
This time I'm considered high risk just because they are twins.  That's it!

You do need to keep on top of your labs, take a prenatal or add folic acid to your regular vitamins, and keep up on the rest of your supplements.

Good luck to you!
