I was just under two months out when I got pregnant with Niko. It was not an easy pregnancy, but mine never are. I lost 60 lbs while pregnant before gaining 20 back at the end.(which I lost within two weeks after he was born) My pouch wasn't stretched at all(and hasonly stretched to 3 oz) and I literally had to eat every 20 min and add weight gainer shake( I did it on doc's orders because Niko was IUGR) Niko was born 5 lbs 12 oz of healthy perfect boy. He's 11 months old now. I am 15 lbs under my goal weight because I am pregnant again and I always lose weight in early pregnancy.(I'm a freak like that) Don't beat yourself up. Call your OB, talk to your nutritionist about vitamin and calorie intake.

It will be okay.

Congrats!!!

Angie

P.S. The ladies here probably remember me freaking out just like you are right now...hehe.

Thank you. Turns out I am def preggo. Just took another test and while one could be wrong, I highly doubt two would be. I am just scared for the little one thats growing inside of me. But thanks for the help I appreciate it.

I was one of those that got pregnant 4 months post-op.  There are at LEAST 1 or 2 week that come here in the same EXACT situation.  First, you need to calm down.  Second, just make sure you do the best you can for you AND baby.

You'll need to either switch to a prenatal OR add one to your regular vitamin.  Your surgeon or OB will tell you what they want you to do.  Keep up on all your other supplements also.

If you still have weight to lose, you have plenty of stores/reserves for your baby to be nourished.  They will get what they need and remember, not only are they the size of a sesame seed, but women in STARVING countries have babies every day.

My OB told me by 2nd trimester to add 200-300 calories a day.  Make sure it's balanced with carbs and protein.  You need to add the carbs so you don't go too far into ketosis and keep your blood sugars normal.

I promise, we get at least one new person here a week that had the same situation.  I was one of those that forgot the condom ONCE and yep, preggo.  I still managed to gain 50 lbs with my pregnancy and have a 10.5 lb baby boy - HEALTHY as a HORSE!

Good luck to you!  And don't forget to breathe.  :-)

Thank you sooooo much for your comforting words. It has really helped me. While I hope I do not gain 50lbs...because I still have about 40 to lose to get to surgeons goal I do not mind gaining enough to support the baby. I do not think I am in ketosis but then again what are the signs beside foul smelling breathe? I am already eating about 50 carbs a day now...do I need any more than that?

IMHO - Eat More Carbs. At least 100 per day, balancing out with a good protein.

Congrats on your BFP!

100....wow that seems like a lot and kinda impossible right now but I can sure try. But another another question...do I need to up my protein now also? I currently take in at least 60g per my nut.

I wasn't very far out from surgery when I got pregnant. I had my surgery December 9th and found out I was pregnant the 23rd of May. I was on the NuvaRing at the time. Things have been good for me, and I am sure it will be good for you as well. I have lost about 15 pounds since becoming pregnant, but for the last few weeks I have been maintaining because I have been forcing myself to eat often.
It will be okay :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy and weight loss too!

I know all too well about failed BCP's and unexpected PG.  I was only a month out when I conceived our 3rd child and I was in SHOCK!  I admit that the timing (then) could not have been worse and though I had nothing but love in my heart for the bean, I was also feeling guilty that I was going to undo all the surgical benefits.  I took many HPT's and had early u/s's to confirm the pregnancy.  I too was in serious disbelief.

Everett is now a healthy, happy, handsome 3-month old.  I continued to lose weight (though it's slowed down now that exercise isn't as prevalent).  My pouch is still there and I can't eat nearly as much as I did during pregnancy.

Take a deep breath and try to believe that everything will work out for the best.  Feel free to PM if you need to vent or just support from someone who's been there.

Hugs,

Jo
