Told the in laws!!! LONG (and a few questions)

So last night we told the in laws.  We knew they would be thrilled, but I couldn't help but be nervous all day.  My hubby works in PA about an hour and a half from home, where my in laws live.  So rather than my hubby and I driving up separately, he took me to work with him and my MIL came and got me and we went out for the day.

We were together from 8am-6:30pm and I could barley keep it in.  It was sooooooo hard but we planned to tell them at dinner (my birthday dinner).  So all day I felt so sneaky haha.  Thankfully we went to see a movie after lunch and that took up 2 hours (Julie and Julia, not as good as I thought it would be).  So anyway 6:15 rolled around and my in laws were moving at a snails pace, and we had 6:30 dinner reservations.  So Russell and I went separately and met them there.  We got there first and told the waitress to give us 5 minutes because we needed to tell the in laws something.

Russell had a "happy birthday" bag, and a "early present" he wanted to give me.  Originally, we wanted to give them bibs that said "I love gma and gpa" but walmart was sold out of those (wtf)?  So since it was my birthday, we got a bib that said "I love mommy".  So the in laws came and Russell immediately said "O Kare I have a early present for you."  So I took all of the paper out of the bag, and then made a big deal about  what was in it, before I pulled it out.  I said something like "O what is this?? Humm I can't figure it out"  Then I pulled it out!  Surprisingly FIL figured it out first and his face lit up!  MIL goes "WHAT?!  ARE YOU PREGNANT?!?! OMG WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME ALL DAY" Then started balling her eyes out, then told the waitress, and called all 7 of her brothers and sisters and every friend shes ever made in her life LOL.

It was exactly the reaction I expected, and they are both thrilled.  My FIL is usually quite and reserved and he goes "Finally we have a title to match our age"  (They're 63 and Russells their only child, so they're finally grandparents.)

I still have to tell my dad.  We do not get along and he is gonna be pissed. He hates kids, thinks they are a mistake, and will use terms with me like "you got knocked up" ect...  So that will be joyous being I am telling him tonight (I have to tell him because he still has an OK relationship with my brother and sister who know about the pregnancy and are keeping it a secret for right now).  It sucks because I feel like a 12 year old around him, but I am not gonna let him disagreeing with our decision ruin my happiness.

After ALL that, are you ladies willing to answer a few questions...

1.  My boobs are sore, but not all the time, usually in the morning and at night... is this normal?  Should they be sore all the time?

2.  A few times a day I will feel "soreness" in my lower abdomen,  it's not cramping, just soreness... normal?

3.  Also sometimes I feel a little pulling or a flutter.

4.  My lower back hurts ALL the time.  It's a dull achy pain that doesn't go away unless I lay down.  I asked a few ppl and they said that only happened at the end?

5.  I do not have typical morning sickness.  I generally only feel nauseous at night, right after dinner.  I threw up twice, but I made myself throw up because I felt really nauseous, but other than that I'm fine all day.

Thanks so much everyone!!!

Well I am happy it went well with the in laws. I never had a so called morning sickness so I cant say on that. I dont think any of us just feel isck in the moring and with each pregnancy I have had different times. This one I do feel more at night and maybe its from eating all day long!! :) I always had cramping in begining of pregnancy from stretching and growing and all. My boobs hurt the first 13-14 weeks like crazy. I kept a sports bra on at night to help some but that does not make it feel great but it helps a little. Thats about all I can think of right now going on 4 hours sleep again. I hope it gets better and just remember every symptom sign or whatever it is is a great thing! I am enjoying everything this pregnancy cause this is it!!

yep its all perfectly normal.

with it being your first child you won't likely feel the baby until at least 14 or so weeks and then you may still not be sure what it is, gas or baby.

congrats!

Glad THAT meeting went well!!  Now, for dear ol' dad...yickers.

Everything you are experiencing seems to be normal to me.  My back hurt from day ONE.  Just like you mentioned.  Maybe you are having twins.  :-)  I had more "regular" symptoms with my singleton but more like what you're descibing NOW  with my twins.

1. Single PG = CONSTANTLY SORE!  Twins = not until 8 weeks then SORTA sore, then more constant after 10 or so weeks.

2.  Single & Twin = I had sore muscles.  I thought it was weird but had it again with my twins.  Not as much with them (not sure why) but I felt like I'd done a gazillion crunches with my singleton.

3.  Single = TONS of pulling and gobs of gas.  They thought I was having a tubal pregnancy because of the amount of pulling pain I was having.  Twins = pulling AND flutters at 8 weeks.  I KNOW it wasn't gas.  It was more "tickly" that gas.

4.  Singleton = no back ache until later.  Twins = from 4 weeks on I've had a lower back-ache.

5.  Singleton = No morning sickness except for week 8 and it was around lunch time and only lasted an hour if even that long.  Twins = All afternoon and night I had MS.  I was dying.

See...you're having twins.  LOL!  KIDDING!
