Honestly, I would FREAK out if someone posted a picture of my kid 1) without my permission and 2) to see if they where "normal". If she is such a good friend, then you should have been able to approach her about your concerns rather then broadcasting the fact that you thought there was something wrong with her kid to the Internet. I would not be shocked if she was really very angry with you, and you will just have to wait and see what kind of damage you did.

I probably would cut a person who did this to me out of my life, I think my anger would prevent me from ever being able to really trust them again. Sorry if this isn't what you want to hear, but when it comes to people's kids, you just can't cross certain lines.

well unfortunately for  you...I would be made enough to end the friendship.  I understand that you are sorry, but once trust is broken...it is very hard to fix.  Especially if you are just friends and not related.  I would ask for her forgiveness and see what happens.  What on earth were you asking about her son that had you so concerned you could not ask her?  If it is so intimate you have to sneak about it, I would say you are not as close of friends as you would like to think you were.  I hope it all ends okay for you :(
