Anemia in babies
My DD (almost 13 months) had her finger stick yesterday and they told me that she was a little bit anemic -but that I shouldn't be to concerned because she is transitioned from iron fort. formula to regular milk and that contributes to the anemia. Okay- well- I am still of course a first time mommy, and freaked out. So I believe it was 10.5 and they want at least 11. So- they of course suggest her eating more iron rich foods..yeah- okay. I am going to try spinach this weekend..but red meats, we do not plan on feeding her. I really didnt want to get into that yesterday so I just went with it. Anyone else experience this with their kiddo? Thanks!
I found this online. It might give you some more ideas....

Jenn,
I had the same occurance with my daughter. In fact, her hemoglobin was the exact same level. We were given a script for an iron supplement, but she refused to take it (Didn't blame her one bit-it smelled terrible!). We just went with more iron fortified foods like cereal, Malt-o-Meal, pasta, etc...Her levels were just fine the next time they were checked and we weren't even super diligent about getting her to eat the iron fortified foods. As far as red meat, yeah, it's good for iron, but my daughter will NOT eat red meat for some reason, so that was a non issue for us as well. HTH!!
