OT: Bilirubin levels
Saturday was my 4 year surgeriversary and so when I was in the doctors office on Thursday I got my blood work done. My doctor called me this afternoon to let me know everything looks great, except my bilirubin level is elevated. She asked me if I still have my gallbladder, and I do. We are going to check my levels again in a month and see what those results are. Any one ever had their bilirubin elevated? What was done about it?

Gilbert's syndrome, pronounced 'zheel-BAYR', often shortened to GS, also called Gilbert-Meulengrachts syndrome, is the most common hereditary cause of increased bilirubin and is found in up to 5% of the population (though some gastroenterologists maintain that it is closer to 10%). The main symptom is otherwise harmless jaundice, which does not require treatment, caused by elevated levels of unconjugated bilirubin in the bloodstream (hyperbilirubinemia).
They tested me again two weeks after surgery and my bili was completely normal.
