Told my mom

My mom came over today because we were going to see my grandma in the hospital (don't worry she's fine).  I thought she was just coming by herself, but my Uncle ended up coming too.  I was soooooo nervous to tell her.  DH is at work so I told her by myself.  We decided to go with the bib thing again.  While my uncle was playing with my cats, I said "Mom come see what I got Russell the other day"  I brought her into our room and pulled out the "I love daddy" bib and a "I love grandma" bib.  I showed her, and she goes "why did you get this...... are you pregnant?!"  She gave me a hug, but she is definitely in shock.  She told me she was happy but she had to get used to it. 

This is pretty much what I expected.  She knew we were TTC but she's just worried about me getting a job after I graduate in December, which I can understand.  But I am definitely planning on working full time after the baby's born.  I know she is happy for me, I think she needs some time to let things sink in.  Now to tell the in laws on Friday!

I'll have to remember the bib idea.  I've been trying to think of creative ways to let the parents and in-laws know when it's time. 

Glad she took it well and I bet she gets excited for you once it sinks in for a bit.  Congrats!

As soon as it sinks in, she'll be the first one to go buy something for the baby. LOL  I'm glad it went well for you!!  :)

Yea I know!  She just called me and said she didn't want me to think she wasn't happy for me but she feels like she's going to be the "grandma that's not around" because I am moving to PA in December and shes in NJ and feels like she's going to be out of the loop, but I assured her it WON'T be like that.

Oh gosh I could only imagine how heart breaking that is for her. I'm not sure how far you guys will be apart, but assure her that there are so many ways to keep in contact and send pictures, etc. She won't miss much if you're able to do that. You can do a blogspot for you and your family, post stories, updates, and tons of pictures! Make sure she has a computer and she'll be good to go and it'll be like she's there with you.  :)

my MOm said almost the exact same thing and within 2 weeks she was as excited as I was and went out and bought me maternity clothes!
