losing weight at 11 weeks

I had my bypass in Oct 2007. I am now 11 weeks pg with twins. The twins are great but I've been losing weight like crazy. I started the pg at 173 and am now down to 159.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm taking Zofran to help with nausea but I'm still having issues with eating. It seems like I have more dumping now than I've had before.

Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

I wish I had that problem!  Instead I'm freaking out about how much weight I'm gaining!!! LOL.  BTW, Congrats on the pregnancy!!  Sorry I can't help out with weight loss thing.  I haven't had that problem as of yet and I don't think I will have that problem.  I too take Zofran and thank god for that.  I was miserable before I got them prescribed.  Now all is better but I am still taking them!  Good Luck with pregnancy and sorry I couldn't be more of a help for you.

Thanks Jesse! For once in my life I wish I didn't have this problem. I just leave it to the fact that my babies are eating me out of house and home and I'm left with the crumbs.

I actually feel better than I have during the whole pregnancy so I take that as a positive.

I lost 17 pounds so far in this pregnancy. I have gained back 3 in the past 2 weeks. So still more lost than gained but I say I still have time for gaining and my baby girl is growing just fine so its all been great!!

This is quite common, unfortunately or fortunately (depending on how you look at it)!  If you're losing rapidly (5lbs or more every week), then please talk to your OB to have them test your urine for ketones.  Adding carbs can help.   I lost over 20 pounds and only started gaining in the 3rd trimester.  Just keep doing the best you can and don't force yourself to overeat (leads to worse nausea).  If you can find a way to keep a small amount of food in the pouch every hour or two, you may feel a bit better.  Hopefully the nausea will subside as you round the corner into the 2nd trimester.

Hugs,

With my first child, (with out any lap band) I had lost 17 pounds during the first 4 months and then only gained the 17 pounds back to put me back at my original weight. I guess it was a plus, because after I delivered I then lost 20 pounds right after like within the 8 weeks of his delivery. Right now Im 19 week pregnant with the lap band and have not lost any weightm but have not gained a pound YET! I know it's coming though! Take care you will be okay. I had a healthy baby and he weighed 7 lb 13 oz
