Waiting to feel pregnant...

So this I my first and long awaited preganacy and its been about 6 weeks since I found out (13 weeks 3 days now). Everybody's been told, my belly is getting a definite baby-bump, and my mom took me out and bought me an insane amount of maternity wear considering I wear SCRUBS to work. DH and I have discussed names. looked at nursery stuff. and planned finances for the new arrival. And last week I saw it on the ultrasound clear as day little hands and feet and all....it even sucked it's thumb! So why do I still not feel pregnant? Did any of you feel this way and, if so, when did it finally sink in? I suppose after 5 years of trying and failing to conceive I just can't really believe it's actually finally happening.....I want to be excited.....over the moon in fact...but I just feel...disbelief. I even have this guilty feeling for telling everyone like I'm lying about it or something....crazy? Hormones? Or just a part of the cycle? Give me your thoughts please....LOL...and feel free to flame if you want to. I don't mind.

I think your just nervous and trying to be careful. I understand. I'm just now 4 weeks and no symptoms yet. I even took a test 1 week before my period is due (due this Wed) and I'm still in disbelief. I've had losses, so I'm nervous. Could be hormones, but most likely, your just being cautious. I think once you start showing more, you'll feel better. Wait till your last trimester when your really tired and so ready for baby to get here. It took you a long time to get where you are, sit back and enjoy it! Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. Stefanie

hey ENJOY it if you don't feel pg girl, some women are lucky enough to have easy pg's like youl!!   With my other pg's, I had food aversions, threw up and all sorts of stuff.   With this pg, I  knew I was pg before the test because my boobs were sore/tender and they still are!!  I have a few other minor symptoms of being pg (like body temp is warmer than normal, gaggy at times, etc) and I"m sure I'll get other symptoms later on down the road- not looking forward to that.. ugh.   But I can understand where you are coming from, the symptoms "make" you feel like you are pg and not just normal and not pg.

I am in disbelief that I am pg still right now, even though we've known for over a week now.   It only took ONE time and that is amazing to me.   My other two pg's (pre op), I was 215 and 265 and it took us 2 yrs to get pg with #1 (on our own) and then 14 months and 2 rounds of Clomid with #2.   So I was in shock the first month that we started trying, I took the OPK (we did it that night), then my boobs got sore about 6 days after that, then I took a hpt the day before af was due and it was POSITIVE!!  I am amazed!!  We are waiting to tell people till after my first appt on the 31st and we hear the heartbeat.... it's so amazing!

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!

I can relate to everything you are saying. I am only 5 weeks, and have really had no symptoms except for a little sore boobs.

I've had previous miscarriages so I am paranoid as heck. Every little twitter, every littel cramp, every little feeling, I'm thinking something is wrong.

I think its just our nerves and we are going to have to let go and let God.

TRYING IS HONORABLE FAILURE

I think your normal. I tried and fail for 8 years before finally concieving so I know where your coming from. Especially in the beginning I felt like an imposter. Like I was living is some fantasy world and I was trying to fool everyone with a lie. I guess in the beginning it doesn't really seem real. You can tell a small difference in your body but some days you don't really even look pregnant. People kept telling me that " you will feel pregnant soon enough" and I just couldn't even wrap my mind around it. Well now I am 22 weeks and it feels real. I look pregnant, I feel pregnant and just this past week I have been able to feel him move every day. Now don't get me wrong some days if I'm sitting there thinking about it it still feels like it's someone elses life. Until about 2 weeks ago I hadn't even stared getting my house ready b/c it was still so surreal. I kept telling my hubby that I hope it feels real before he gets here, lol. Maybe everyone feels this way the first time around b/c it's so new and hard to imagine such a big change....or maybe it's b/c I never thought I would be here, who knows. But I promise it will feel real soon enough, even if thats hard to believe right now. Just try to relax and enjoy it, even though some days it feels like it's dragging it does go by pretty fast and you will never get back the experiences of your first pregnancy and congrats on being here after such a long journey you earned it....so enjoy!!!! P&PT's.

I honestly did not feel pregnant till about 2 weeks ago and even now sometimes I dont feel it. I really only feel pregnant while she is kicking and other than that not so much. I dont have much of a bump at all and most people dont even notice I am pregnant. So I am hoping in a few more weeks maybe I will feel it all the time!! :)

I posted nearly the same thing about 3 weeks ago (17 weeks now) and then at 15 weeks I started to feel the flutters.  You are going through something completely normal.  We tried for 8 years before getting PG 11 months after RNY.  Hang in there and talk about it with your hubby.  It will help.

I can definitely relate to some of what you are saying.  I will be 8 weeks tomorrow and I am still in disbelief.  I have some symptoms like sore and achy boobs, occassional nausea and I can even feel a little baby bump under my post-op belly....  However, I still don't "Feel" pregnant.  I am thinking that I won't until I actually have an ultrasound and see it with my own 2 eyes.  I also get paranoid with every little thing that I feel..thinking that something is wrong.

So...you are not alone on this one.  I am sure that reality will hit us soon than later....

I didn't feel pregnant untul 15 or so weeks and I'm pregnant with TWINS.  lol.  Everyone would ask me how I felt and I'd say "oh, you know...I'm in that 'I don't feel like I'm really pregnant' stage."  I think we all go thru it.  Until I could feel them move, I felt like a phoney too - even though I was gianormous.
Once the little one starts kicking you so you can feel it, it's a whole new ball game!  :-)  Just a few more weeks...

Take care,
