Does this diaper make me look fat??

Hello,

Cooper here.  I am 7 weeks old now.  Lately people come up to me and pinch my cheeks and say "How many MONTHS is he?" .  To which my mommy has to correct them that I am only WEEKS old, not months.

Yesterday, one man said "I bet he's at least 6 months old!" and my mom and dad and to explain that I wasn't even 2 months old.  Then another group of old ladies said "Oh, he needs to go on a diet!  Only Skim milk for that blubber!".

All these comments about my weight are giving me a complex.   Am I too fat?  My mommy obviously had a weight problem growing up and into adulthood.... my daddy has his fair share of "love handles" and "pot bellies".   Am I destined to live the same ?????

I was 10 lbs 4 oz at my 1 month check-up (up from 7lbs 1 oz when born).  Next week I go for my 2 month check up and I expect to be at least 12 lbs.

So, do I look too fat !?!?!?  (Notice my fancy new size 3 diapers! I also wear 3-6 month old clothes and some of my 0-3 clothes no longer fit me!)

Cooper!  You are in no way fat!  Those old bats can suck on all the skim milk they want because you definitely don't need it.   You are growing big and strong and are one of the most adorable little baby boys I have ever seen!

Awwww Cooper I think you are perfect!! All that baby fat you are carrying around now will soon melt off when you start to crawl, walk and run.  And tell your mama to tell all those people to bugger off they are just jealous!!!

I'd say - and my hubby agrees - that you look strong and mature for your 7 weeks.  We all are made different and maybe you are going to be a big boy but for now don't worry about things - you just focus on playing and sleeping and eating and growing.

Is he breastfed or formula fed?  My son was always told he was too small but there are different charts for the two different feeding types.  I will say a size 3 diaper for my son wasn't until he was a year old and at two he's in a size 5.  He was born 8 lbs 2 oz and 21".  His 2nd year check up he is 27.5 lbs and 36".  He was breastfed until he was 17 mos and solids introduced at 7 mos.  He's tall and thin - and while I don't appreciate comments made that he is too small - I know that he perfect and well fed with healthy foods to try to avoid the weight problems his daddy and I face/faced.

The size of clothes is off anyway.  You can't trust the labels to be right on when dressing the little guy.  I had to give up and just put on what fits.

  Be Blessed!

Cooper,
We are all built differently.  I don't think you look fat at all!  I don't have a clue as to how much I weigh???  But I am almost out of my 1-2 diapers but am just now into my 0-3 clothes, maybe I have the big butt?  My friend was just born last week and he was 10lbs 4 oz and 22 in. long!  And his mommy is super skinny and tiny!  Don't worry dude, you look handsome( said in my mommy's best guy like lingo).

Hi Cooper - You are not fat, you are healthy. People tell me I am a big boy too and I know it hurts my Mom's feelings because she always says she was a fat kid and doesn't want me to be picked on like her. I know she worries about me but everyone tells her I will loose my chub once I start walking.

Love,
Josiah

Cooper,

You are NOT fat. Please tell your Mama that you need to spread out to stretch your skin, so it will fit when your bones start growing taller and taller. Besides, those old ladies are just jealous that you are healthy and cute and nobody thinks their dimply fat fannies are cute anymore. Nope, that is an honor exclusively for babies.

Snuggles to you,

Angie

My oldest is now 9 when he was baby he weight 18 pounds at his three month visit. People would tell me he was fat and look at those rubberband arms. As a mom I would get very offended. At nine years old (in 3 weeks). He is in the 90th percent tile for his height and 50th for his weight. So he is tall and skinny. Please don't worry. You have beautiful happy, healthy baby. My husband and I have both stuggled with our weight, and so does most of my hubby's family. My kids are are normal happy children. With no weight issues to be seen. Just blow off the comments and enjoy.

Hi Coop, what's up Dude?  Don't worry about old Ladies.  They never can tell how old I am.  I can go to the store and some old lady will tell me I'm 9months old and then the one next to her will swear I'm two years old.  I think they lose their eye sight are just want to talk to me because I'm so cute.  That's probably your problem they just want to be able to say something to you cause your so cool looking.

By the way man you totally have rockin' hair!
