Introduction
I just wanted to introduce myself and hoping to get some of my questions answered. I am 41 year old woman with 2 kids. My 8 year old son is severly autistic and is non-verbal and I have a 5 year old daugther. I was on BC when I discovered (on my birthday) that I was 9 weeks pregnant that was 3 weeks ago. SO Happy Birthday to me. lol. I am concerned that I might gain all me weight back. I know this is not a healthy way to think and I would like to think that I am better than that and have learned how to eat right and excercise. Which I still do every single day. I have one question I have gained about 5lbs so far but keep losing a couple of pounds here and there. Is this normal? I am seeing my OB on Monday but was just wondering what is a healthy weight gain? I am currently bouncing between 140-145lbs. I was 143lbs last week. Any help and or suggestions are much appreciated. I hope to make all your acquintences thru the next 6 months. Thanks again for listening...

Hi and welcome. I lost 17 pounds so far with this pregnancy. I think I gained 3 back this week but thats all. So losing weight is not so bad in the begining as long as you are eating and all the way you should. I was told to gain between 15-25 and that would be alright. Now they say if its a little more not to worry since I lost so much. I worry about it since its been a 3 pound gain this week but since I have not gained so far I guess thats not so bad.
I am pregnant with my 3rd also. Its so much different this time. I am 34 years old and man some days do I feel every day of it. I feel old but I also feel since I have a 15 almost 16 year old and a 10 year old almost 11 that I will do better this time at this stage in my life. I did not do so well the first two times and wish I could change a few things but I cant go back and I have spoke with my boys about all that and they have worked out a lot with me. Its not easy. I feel more tired and drained. It did not help when they asked me to stop exercising when I lost all the weight in the begining cause they wanted to weight loss to stop. Now I have no energy and I have to start at least doing my mile walk again. Will see about that on my next apt in a week.
Good luck though!! Take every day as a blessing and try to be happy about everything that is changing. I know since this is our last that I am trying to savor every minute of it.
Congrats and welcome again!!

Congratulations and welcome to the AMA (Advanced Maternal Age) Club! I am also 41 years old...and I'm TTC #2. I have a 14 year old son and have had 4 mc's in the last 1 1/2 years. Hopefully soon I'll join you as being one of the oldest here! There are a few other AMA members...but there doesn't appear to be many.
I'm sure this baby will end up being the best birthday present you ever gave yourself. I hope the rest of your pregnancy is happy and healthy...for you and the baby.

Welcome and congrats on the birthday present! I am the mother of 3 boys and a new surprise as well. I also Have a severely autistic 5 year old that is non-verbal. This is my second post-op pregnancy and so far I have lost 10 lbs since I found out I was pregnant. With my last pregnancy I gained 20-25 lbs and lost it all plus and extra 10 lbs by the time the baby was 6 months old. Don't forget to get added to the baking mommas list that Laurie puts out. Good luck and welcome to the board.

First of all congratulations on your new little one. I am 38 and pregnant with my 4th child (c-section Aug. 20). I do have to say that being older with this pregnancy has been tough...you need to listen to your body and rest when you can. Exercising is great but don't over do it. God bless you and your family...autisim is hard. Welcome to the board and feel free to ask anything you want because we don't judge you around here. Penni
