scheduled c-sections

Ok  I was talking with  my oldest daughter and we were wondering has anyone had a scheduled c-section but went into labor before the date scheduled on their own?

Yes, sort of. I had labor contractions a week before Everett's c/s. Was monitored and the drs were going to do the c/s, only then they decided he needed to bake another week due to lung immaturity.

I'm sure the protocol varies depending on why you're having a c/s to begin with and how far along, etc.

holy crap your almost there.... yes... my mom... she was always scheduled for 38 weeks... but always went into labor at 36 like clock work lol

I'm sure it happens.

this will be my second scheduled csection and I will be about 39 weeks 2/3 days when we do it...so there is a chance in which case I'll just labor.

I had my c-section scheduled for Feb 18th.  My water broke on Feb 12.   Hannah didn't want to miss Valentines day lol.

ME. I went into labor the Friday before my c-section was scheduled. I was at 37 w 3 days. I was just feeling strong pinches and Niko had been dropped for weeks. I made Dave take me to L&D because it was 45 min away and I can't go through labor. I went in. They attached me to a monitor and couldn't find anything. They told me to go home, but they wanted to check me first.I was dialated 5 cm and going fast. I just had really low contractions. So, in I went for my c-section.

It does happen.

yup... its OK.. they expect that.. you may have a different Dr if yours isn't available... I had to be put under cause it was an emergency.. but that is an exception.If you have a history of pre term labor..my OB does a FLM (fetal lung maturity)amnio to take the baby earlier..(if the FLM is OK)..I did do that with my last..but the FLM wasn't high enough so we waited... I was on pins and needles with worry.. I held it though.. but did end up in labor the day I had my scheduled c section..guess in my mind I let it go knowing I had held on..and didn't  have to anymore lol.. I had contractions about 3 min apart the am I went in.. they just took me in earlier.. all was fine:-)

I had a c-section scheduled for 3/6 but my water broke on 3/1.  Matthew was born that night with an emergency c-section.

I was in the hospital waiting for my c-section and started having contractions by the time the nurse came in I was dialated to a 4. They got me into the OR quickly. He was our 3rd baby and my other two were not c-sections, so I think that contributed to it. I am not looking forward to going through that again but I am already getting excited about meeting this little one in 9 months.

It did not happen to me but I asked what would happen if it did and they said they would still do the C section.....whew!
