A little discouraged... ***update***
I know there are many of you that waited a long time to get preggers and some that are still trying so I know I shouldn't feel like this.... This is only the second cycle since I got of bc, but I was soo sure this would be it. I started testing way too soon, I knew that it would be a BFN. I used like 7 or 8 tests but now I am feeling really sad and hopeless. part of me believes that i am still infertile even though my Dr believes otherwise. I have PCOS and was unable to conceive b4 WLS. My period should start on the 10th. I am trying to just wait till at least then to test again. Any words would help, even if it is "you stupid girl shut up!" lol :) Thanks in advance.

Just FYI- I make it a point not to ask ?'s I don't want to hear the answer to. I hate when people do that. But that is why I have never posted asking IF I should be TTC at 9mos post op. I know exactly what answers I would get. This post was because I was feeling down and the responses I get??? You shouldn't be TTC..... Thank you but I'll stick with my dr's opinion thank you. And he works with my surgeon so I am sure he knows what he is doing. Thank you all for your time.

Erika - many Doctors tell you to wait 3 months after stopping BC pills and from what I have read it takes the average couple 3-6 months to conceive. I went off BC pills in January, conceived in April and discovered that I had a blighted ovum in June. We are just now back to TTC.
HOPEFULLY your PCOS will be drastically improved since your surgery, mine was. Also, are you sure that you ovulated exactly when you did? Maybe you were off a few days and your period is further off then you think , so there is still time for the BFP- all just possibilities!
I too am impatient but have learned through this journey that in time all good things do come - we just have to be patient.
Here's to your BFP!

ETA - I just went back and looked - you aren't even a year out from surgery right? AND you haven't reached goal?? Have you consulted with your surgeon and OB before TTC? Just a question - I know my surgeon reccomended being at a stable weight for at least 6 months and being 18-24 months out of surgery. As someone who is closer to surgery there is the chance of ketosis (which is dangerous to the baby) and you want to get the most "bang for your buck" from your surgery.

I second everything Liz said. It takes time to get pg...usually several cycles. Not that it's not possible this month...but don't get discouraged if it's not.
I LOUDLY second what Liz said about making sure you have your dr's OK to TTC before you're even a year out of surgery. Every dr that I've read about has said to wait 18-24 months...but minimum a year. Yes...there are a lot of women who don't wait that time...but it's best for you to get the benefits of the surgery BEFORE getting pg than to struggle afterwards when the window has almost closed for 'easier' weight loss. Think seriously about what you're trying to do...and weigh the pros and cons of waiting just a few more months.

I tested the day before my period and got a BFN. I then tested the day of my period and got the BFP! So you never know.
I know it's easy to get discouraged-- it took me 5 months to get pregnant with my first and it seemed like the 5 longest months! Each month seemed to get longer and longer.
Try to have fun and not get stressed and upset abou it.

Yes, My Dr and Surgon both suggest 6-12 mos. And I have gotten an ok from my PCP but I have not seen my surgon since my six month check. I know it is better to wait until I am at goal but I want a family more that to I want be skinny. I will be 28 tomorrow and I am not sure how long it will take me to get preggers. I am down 111lbs (61#s to goal) and healthier than I have ever been so I decided to start trying now. I do appreciate all of your imput though because I know you are just looking out for me. It will be hard to loose more wieght after and I must be ready to live with that.

It's more than looking out for you, it's more concern for the fetus that you could incubate if you were to get pregnant before the time-frame.
The reason they ask us to wait is ketosis. If you are in ketosis, and are producing high levels of ketones, you can give the fetus brain damage -- damage that won't be realized until much later when the child is in school. Ketones are a derivative of alcohol -- and surely you've heard of fetal alcohol syndrome?
There are ways to avoid ketosis for the mothers that do get pregnant early out -- but it is ill-advised to do so unless it is an actual "oops".
You want to be a parent. Start now by being a good incubator for that child and wait until you are done losing weight. I speak from experience on this.

In my experience PCP's are always the most educated about WLS - just as a precation I would put a call into your Surgeon and your OB. My OB wanted me to have a check-up before I started TTC also - just to make sure everything was A-OK. Your surgeon may want to do bloodwork first also before giving you the thumbs up - mine did - just to check vitamin levels and make sure you are getting everything you need out of your pre-natals and your other vitamins that are essential in TTC. (Andrea is the expert on what exactly they check - I just know I had a massive amount done including B12, folic acid, Vit. A etc.)
