gtt test with jello beans for gastric bypass patients
Nope, would have dumped and test wouldn't be accurate since I don't absorb sugars the same anymore. I did the Post-Paradinal Test. All evidence I have seen and heard shows its more accurate for RNY patients.
Good luck with your test. Hope you pass with flying colors.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
A RNY patient cannot do a glucose tolerance test. Your OB should know this. My first pregnancy and this one too I will do what is called a preprandial and postprandial lab draw. Basically - you have a fasting blood sugar lab draw and then you go eat a meal - you have another lab draw 2 hours after your meal. This is very accurate. A GTT has about 50g sugars - that is a total no no.
I wouldnt suggest doing it...I was reading the paper yesterday at my OB office (for the lab 2 hour test 100grams of sugar, and the 1 hour has 50 or 75 grams) there is NO WAY. The jelly beans is a great solution for someone that would barf up the liquid, not for someone who can't process sugar correctly. Ugh..Dr's! I kept a blood sugar log...but the fasting and after meal test should be a great (simple) solution. I do a week of BS because my Diabetes has been in remission since WLS..but I am at a huge risk for reoccurance because of my weight (thats per me and knowing my body!).
