What was your weight gain during pregnancy?

I was 245 lbs. at the start of my first pregnancy and lost 10 lbs. during my pregnancy, mostly due to morning sickness the entire pregnancy.  I gained a lot of weight right after giving birth to my son because he wasn't sleeping, which meant I wasn't sleeping.  I ate non-stop to cope w/ my exhaustion.  My highest weight, right before surgery was 262.5 lbs.  I'm weighing 170 right now, which means I'm still considered overweight.

I will be meeting with my RNY doc tomorrow to discuss my pregnancy.

I simply curious as to what you gained, realizing that everyone is different.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I gained 43 pounds with my twins and I have gained 1 pound (although I'm sure it's more now because I haven't been weighed since week 16) so far with this current pregnancy.   I'm guessing that I will probably gain about 15-25 pounds with this baby.

I gained more than most ladies here - 75 pounds, but a lot of it was fluid.  I had lost about 40-45 pounds of it by my 6 week checkup.

with my son I had done the atkins diet and lost 51 lbs.  so I gained back all of that plus 20 ish more.

with my daughter I had all the weight from my son still on me and I added another 20 or so.

this time... I am down 16 lbs from where I was when I found out I was pregnant.  I imagine I'll gain that back in the next few months and maybe some.

I was 4 months post op when I got pregnant and still managed to gain 50 lbs exactly.  I started at 150 and delivered at 200.  It was mostly fluid and baby.  He was 10.5 lbs and I lost 42 lbs within 2 weeks.
With my twins, I've gained 19 lbs so far at 22.5 weeks.  I think I was this far up at  22w with my singleton.

I am currently 17 weeks and 5 days and thus far I've gained 16 pounds!!!  I'm hoping that I won't gain much more, but... I doubt that's going to happen.  This will be my first child.  Good luck to you and Congrats!

My first pregnancy was 10 months post op I gained 45 lbs.  I felt justified in eating for 2 and found that the later in my pregnancy I was able to tolerate more sugar and craved chocolate chip cookies.  We also went out to eat a lot because we were told to enjoy our final months of being just a couple before baby joins the home.  I started out right eating high protein and healthy carbs - unfortunately I had people that don't understand WLS and eating and shamed me in to eating more - I took the license to just go for it in the eating field.  The other thing was breastfeeding and hunger took me by surprise!  Oh, and I also stopped exercising during my 1st pregnancy.

This time...I'm keeping my head on straight.  I actually forget to eat.  I'm 25 weeks on Saturday and I've gained a total of 14 lbs.  I'm trying to ingest healthier sweets instead of full on junk.  My exercise isn't where I want it but I'm working on it.  If I gain under 20-25 lbs I'll be happy.

As for breastfeeding - my post WLS body didn't have enough fat to keep up milk production so I had to resign myself to keeping the 20-25 lbs extra on me so my milk supply was more than adequate.  I was able to nurse for 17 months.

Best wishes.

  Be Blessed!
