OT: Moms of more than 1 child.
Thanks! Another one of my problems is that I do not like germs or bugs. I have lightened up a bit but when Ny first started crawling I entertained the idea (for a second) of trying to keep her on a blanket or in the play pen. DH definately was not having that but I cringed everytime I seen her crawling on the floor - whether it be my house or daycare. DH says she needs to build her immune system - since you work in medical do you agree? It actually has become more OCD, I wash her hands all the time, and always change her clothes after daycare. It all started when a friend of mine who doesnt even live in the same state got scabies, when I looked them up on the INTERNET, I was so disgusted that is all I can think about when I look at any cloth covered items, chairs, couches, towels, etc. When I go to others homes I rarely will sit unless its on a kitchen chair or leather couch. I know, I know I need medication and I have an appt. today to discuss it.
Thanks for listening to my long drawn out OT post.

I will tell you that I have to be extra careful of germs because we have sick ass people coming in....hacking and coughing all over the place without regard to those around them.
However, my doc and a few co-workers were just having the conversation the other day about hand sanitizers EVERYWHERE now. It is his opinion, and others, that there is too much germophobia around. And that, it does stregnthen the immune system to be exposed to germs.
Now with that said, you can't be willy nilly, and not teach good hygiene, and normal handwashing practices. But sterilizing an entire shopping cart before you use it, or hosing down your kid just because they were around other kids is a little much. There's a fine line. Like with anything.
But everyone is different. And you have to do what you are comfortable with.
