I have had this all day today and I'm guessing that it's because I'm as big as I would be about that far along with a single pregnancy. But the twins have me feeling all this stuff early! I wanted to cry walking around Target today and felt like they were going to fall out of my crotch. When I sit, I'm much better.
Maybe you are starting to dilate? Did you make it 40 weeks with your other pregnancies?
Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

hey!
hopefully the doc will check me this week and if I am dilating it will explain what i am feeling!
With my first I did make it to 40 weeks BUT she was frank breech so never dropped so I didn't get this sensation, and with my last pregnancy with four in there I was on drugs very early on to prevent contractions and delivered at 29 weeks so I didn't go though all of this then either!
This pregnancy has been great and the fact that this is the first pain in week 36-37 is good but the uncomfortable thing is annoying!!
Thanks!!
Hope you are doing your best to take it easy!!

I think it is more likely to happen in the 3rd pregnancy as it happened to me as well. I'm betting mostly because the pelvic muscles are much looser after 2 pregnancies and they rest on those muscles more as they grow heavier. I don't think it's necessarily them "dropping" in the way most doctors would definine it (actually entering the birth canal).
I definitely felt lots of pressure down there for 2-3 weeks before my son was born. As a matter of fact while in the hospital waiting to get fully dialted, my OB kept asking "do you feel pressure yet" and my response was "dude, I've had that for weeks" but dang was I wrong. When it came to actual labor pressure...that feeling was about 1/3 the intensity of "urge to push" feelings.
Take it easy is the only way I survived those last 2 weeks.

I am not alone, neither are you.
