ok I just started using opk's and I had my period on 7-23-09  started lightly spotting the night before, but I usually go 28-29  days between periods.  I stopped nuva ring back in May, so I have had now 3 normal periods.  I started testing opk on day 9 after LMP  tomorrow will be day 14  and still no positive opk.  What gives?   I am using answer brand and Clearblue easy just to make sure because I havn't heard great things about the answer brand , but I bought those first.  It sounds crazy, but I do one of each morning and evening.  What do you think?  I do have a daughter that is 12 years old, so I no I can get pregnant and ovulate.

I have a 28-29 cycle and I have a short luteral phase. I don't usually ovulate until CD 17. So, you might not be ovulating yet. Are you temping and keeping track of your cervical mucus changes?

I am sure Shari will post to your reply on when is the proper time to test and some ideas to catch your OPK.

I wish you tons of luck TTC!

You might also want to keep track of your temps.  those are super helpfull in knowing when you have ovulated.

fertility friend is the website that my doctor instructed me to start using, and I know some of the other ladies around here use it too.....

Also just becuas eyour cycle is 28 days doesnt mean its 14 before and 14 after.. it could be 10 before and 18 after or 18 before and 10 after ovulation.....

I happen to run 31 and 16 before 15 after...

You may not ovulate until CD20. You don't always ovulate on CD14. Temping would be a great thing to do also, you can completely understand your cycle then.

Looks like the girls covered the basics. Fertilityfriend.com is an awesome website. Charting your temps is the best way to know for sure you are ovulating, but opk's are the best way to catch your fertile time before o. Also, it is okay to test 2x a day, but the surge usually happens in the evening. I would say if your cycle is pretty regular then you should get your +opk soon and o no later than cd 19-20. If you o later than that with a 29 day cycle then it might be a luteal phase defect, anything less than 10 days from o to af doesn't allow sufficient time for implantation usually. Oh, and I loved the answer brand, much cheaper too. Shari

I'm guessing you'll get a positive on your OPK in the next day or two.  In the meantime, just to cover your bases, do the baby dance every other day.

I was on bcp for 1.5 years.  Stopped them and started using OPKs on CD 9.  Got a positive on CD 15.  Had sex that day and the next day.  I'm pregnant.

Sending baby dust your way.  :)

I think I got a positive opk this am.   It was as dark as the control but only a very tiny line the rest was lighter.  Do I take that as a positive?
