Hi Everybody,

I am 10 months post rny, and still need to loose about 20lbs to hit goal. Heres the thing, I am 35, and we are talking about having a baby. (first for both of us) What I am wondering, is because of my age and surgery, when should we think about trying. I am concerned about many things, including diet and weight gain (I know thats a terrible thing), and of course how old I am.  We are afraid to wait too long, but also I don't want to try too early.  And honestly, neither one of use knows anything about babies or pregnancy.
Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm by no means an expert...but my surgeon made me sign a contract stating that I would not get pg until I am at least a year out, and preferably 18 months.

OK, the right thing to say is to wait until you've hit your goal and stayed there a while...BUT...that isn't always real life.  We get older and clocks start ticking...I know!
I think waiting a year would be perfect - and you only have 2 months to go!  My surgeon didn't make me sign anything (what would he do if I accidently broke that contract?!  Which would have happened!) but suggested I not get pregnant until 12 months at least.

HOWEVER, I suprisingly got pregnant at just 4 months post op.  I was 20 lbs from my goal of 130.  I NEVER lost another pound since having my son.  Even being so early out from RNY I managed to gain 50 lbs and have a 10.5 lb baby.  No idea how that happened!  Even my surgeon was baffled yet wasn't concerned because I still managed to "get smaller" elswhere besides my belly.  It was ALL baby and I did lose 42 of those 50 lbs within 2 weeks.  But I kept 8 lbs and never lost another.

So, with that said, I say GOOD LUCK TTC!!  A family is worth it no matter when and how it starts.

well, other than my age, we really aren't in any sort of a hurry. I was looking for some input, and experience from others on the board. I was definitely waiting until at least 1yr, and then I guess we will discuss further.  In the meantime, I will concentrate on staying healthy!!

Hope you guys don't mind if I stick around in the meantime.
