Post Op when did you go off BC?

DH and I deal with male factor infertility so it is unlikely even given my weight loss that we will concieve without assistance.  However, we are going to start trying in November.  I know my body will need to adjust to the hormone change, but after waiting three years for children I don't want to wait one moment longer than necessary.  I'm thinking of going on BC in September and switching to a barrier method until November.  Those of you that tried to conceive after surgery how long did you go off bc before you officially started trying.

(I will be one year post op in November, yes I have discussed this with my doctors and they are on board with ttc one year post op)

I went off and started trying right away (11 months post-op for our 10 year anniversary).  Got pregnant the first month.  I have NEVER had any luck in the eight years of trying pre-op but we weren't even trying and I got pregnant post.  We figured we'd just try without doing the baby crazy temping and all that for a bit.  We learned a lot of patience in those 8 years and I am so glad it DIDN'T happen sooner.  We have both grown a lot in that time and I think now will be the perfect time.  So don't rule out a sudden pregnancy because of problems before.  I was never officially diagnosed with anything but I know the weightloss was what did it.

I think I was off BC for 5 or 6 years at least.  My surgeon required that I go off BC before he would do the surgery because he said it would increase my risk of blood clots.  Fine by me, I hated those stupid effin pills.

We have MF issues as well.

It is funny how different doctors are, mine requires that you go on it before the surgery and stay on it for a year afterwards.

Hey Sam

I was given the 'OK' by my surgeon at my 1 year check-up and immediately went off BC pills.  I got preggo 2 months later.  The same thing with my 2nd pregnancy, I stopped the BC pills and it took me 2 months to get pregnant again.

Good luck!  It's so exciting but nerve-wracking at the same time.  :o)

Good luck!
