question about movement in late pregnancy...

So I am closing in on 33 weeks, I find that I have days that baby boy is barely moving. I can always get 10 to 20 movements in a 1 hour period, but sometimes I really have to push him (literally in some cases), then I have days where it seems that he never sleeps. I had two pretty quite days, and then tonight it has been like someone slipped him a coffee, he has not stopped moving for over an hour. I checked his heart rate with the doppler and it's steady in the 140's, no dips low, but some increase when he really starts to get going.

I know I am probaby worrying for nothing, but seriously this is SO hard, the waiting and praying that he is safe and worrying about every little thing. I tend to over analyze, but I just want him to be safe.

So I know that decreased activity needs to be reported to the doctor, but what about an increase? Anybody else notice this kind of "cycle" of activity while preggo?

Just in my own experience with my first I barley felt her move at all the whole time, and at one point they told me to count kicks, I maybe got 3 and they weren't even together. This time I have a very active girl but am 39 weeks and don't feel a lot of anything anymore when I do its more pain in an organ because there is just no room at all. Your ok but if you are trully worried call the doc.

It depends on how high the spikes are. Write them down and tell your doc. I forget what they told me during my non-stress tests. sorry. Most likely though, the baby's just getting into a sleep and wake pattern. Even as adults, our heart rate jumps upon waking. The baby also is getting less and less room to really move around in there.

Hi there your baby's activity sound very normal.  If you sit down to count the kicks and you get that 10 or more movements in an hour the baby is fine.  Like the other's say when there is less space in there the movemnt slows down an since everything is closed in it depends where your placenta is at it might block some of the baby's movement and you might not feel the subtle moves.

Now as for the heartrate going up it is absolutely normal when the baby wakes up and moves.  That is how they determine how well your baby is doing when you get a non stress test done... So the heart rate going up with movement is a wonderful sign that your baby is happy.

Take care

Sounds normal....

When I was 39 weeks I didn't feel Zachary move for like 24 hours and I was told to go right to L&D...... They ended up inducing me and told me that it was very good I came in. So if you experience this later in your pregnancy... I wouldn't mess around.

Let your doctor know what you've been experiencing.

Kellen was like that.  Some days he was so crazy in there he'd stop a business meeting right in the middle because people could see him moving from across a room.  Then, he'd have days where he was so quiet I'd freak out.  I've read that they could be very active one day and then resting up the next.  If his heart rate is good, I wouldn't worry too much.  However, I already worry about that with the girls!!!  If it's not one thing, it's another.  LOL.  It NEVER ends, does it?
