My Baby Loved Jury Duty Today
...but I did not! I swear, it is like detention for adults! Luckily, even though the court had 11 cases, by 12:20 they had all been resolved or changed and the entire room of potential jurors was released. I'm one of those unusual people who actuall WANTS to be on a jury...in fact, last time I had jury duty I was pissed because the woman beside me got the last seat on the jury. (I really wanted to be a juror!) This time around however, I didn't want to serve.
Even though I was "stuck there" for 4 hours, I was kind of enjoying it since Baby Boy was movin' and grovin' like I've never experienced before. This could have been for a variety of reasons...I was sitting perfectly still most of the time and it was relatively quiet. Anywhow, the baby's activity was definitely the highlight of my jury duty today!

Last summer I was selected to be a juror (on my very first jury duty day ever). I was elated. My husband was peeved, but it occured over 3 days which my husband just happened to have off, so it worked out well.
I enjoyed every second of the process until....just before deliberation the random selection of alternates was drawn and BAM, I was an alternate. So after all that time listening and contemplating...I never got a chance to be a part of it in the end. I was sequestered (along with the other alternate juror) and we weren't allowed to discuss anything with the case until a verdict was announced. Talk about crazy!
I agreed with the verdict however, so in some way I felt it was all okay. In a wild twist of fate the very next day I went to the movies with my family and standing in line before us was the aquitted defendant! I don't think he even saw me or if he did, he didn't recogize me. I wanted to say so many things to him.
I'm glad you had a good day with the baby. There's nothing like taking a boring situation and finding the joy in it. Good luck on your next jury duty day!

I am not alone, neither are you.
