Afraid of Needles anyone???
Our class was just over an hour and was lead by an RN. She talked about the process from start to finish, handed out a lot of paperwork (we were in a couples class, like Julie's) and then we were given syringes, vials of saline and an orange. We spent time practicing drawing the fluid out of the vial, and injecting the orange. The RN was great and spent time with each couple, really helping them. My DH has major white coat syndrome and struggled to poke the orange hard enough, but by the end of the class, he was an expert and it becomes surprisingly easier after the first one. In addition, the RE's office was available by phone 24/7 for support or questions.

I was right there with you when we first started our ttc journey 17 yrs ago. In fact, I did pass out when my DH gave me my first Ovidrel shot for our first IUI. Our IVF injection class was about an hour and led by an RN, also. She made sure you and DH were sure what, when and where with the shots. The shots for the actual feritility drugs for most folks are subQ (which means short thin needles right under the skin). This was not my case, but I am a rare case. You'll make it through as you have a goal in sight. Until I got over being afraid of needles, I would pray and let DH stick me as I prayed. By the time IVF #4 rolled around (after 7 IUIs), we were both pros. You'll do great! IVF is the best rollercoaster you'll ever board.
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you had quite the journey. I really hope that this is the best roller coaster. I feel like we've been through so much already and I don't know how much more disappointment we can stand. Take care, and I will keep you guys posted.
