Somewhat OT: New tech allows mom to hold "fetus"
I think its cool. After ttc for years and we got pg with Emma the tech gave me a tiny little plastic baby as a congratulations for making it. Of course at the time it wasn't 'actual' size...but it was a sweet gesture and made it feel pretty real to be pg. Like you andrea I think it would be neat to feel the actual weight and see the actual size.
You know on Fertilityfriend.com they have this ticker for your growing baby and they show the size in comparison to fruits. To me that is strange....this month your baby is the size of a banana, or a cantaloupe. Maybe working in a grocery store gives me a warped sense about it. lol Shari

I can understand the curiosity of wanting to do this. When I had my son at 31 weeks my daughters could not go in the NICU for a few days after he was born. It was very difficult explaining to them that he is soooooo tiny and the doctors are taking care of him..blah blah blah....sooooooo this may sound bizarre, but to give them an idea of how big he was, I took them to the store and we went to the meat department. I found those tubes of meat and one that was 3 pounds (son weighed 3 pounds 1 ounce)...I had them each hold it so they could see how "big" he was. Also, his little leg band fit around my ring finger, so I took off my rings and showed them how big his little ankle/leg was.
I personally am not that curious, so I probably would not be into this sort of thing, but I do understand where some people could be into it. I sure felt wierd comparing my son to hamburger....lol...but it worked at the time for my girlies! LOL
